It makes me incredibly proud to see Arunima bring Colors for Peace to India and turn something she believed in into such a meaningful occasion.

My heartfelt congratulations to her on becoming President of Colors for Peace India and successfully bringing Mr. Antonio Giannelli, Founder and President of Colors for Peace International, along with the Italian delegation to New Delhi.

Having seen closely the love, thought and hard work she has put into making this happen, it was truly special to see it all come together. So proud of you, Arunima, and all that lies ahead!

Came across this old video recently and it took me back to the days when so much of our work happened around a sketch, a drawing board and endless conversations in the office.

A lot has changed since then. The tools, the pace and even the way we work have evolved, but the joy of sitting down, sketching an idea and watching it take shape still feels exactly the same.

Happy World Architecture Day to everyone who continues to find something new to draw, design and imagine.

The Himalayas have always reminded us of the importance of living in balance with nature. As we continue to build and develop in this region, it is essential that we understand the landscape and work with its natural systems.

In my conversation with The Better India, I share my thoughts on the need for more sensitive infrastructure planning, climate resilience and a development approach that puts the long-term well-being of both people and the environment at its centre.

There is a distinct sense of fulfilment in returning to a project not as its architect, but as one of its users.

Attending an event at Yashobhoomi, designed by our team at CP Kukreja Architects, was one such moment. To experience the spaces in the way they were intended to be experienced, alongside the many people they were created for, offered a different perspective altogether.

Architecture ultimately comes alive through people, through gatherings, conversations and shared experiences. Being part of that collective experience at Yashobhoomi was a reminder that the most meaningful measure of a project begins long after the drawings are complete.

Art has a way of creating space for reflection, conversation and new ways of seeing the world around us.

It was a pleasure to attend “Antaruni Sarhadein… Inner Frontiers” by Namita Prakash at the India International Centre as Guest of Honour.

An evening that brought together art, ideas and people, and a reminder of the importance of supporting creative expression and the voices behind it.

At Fire Safe Build India 2026, I spoke about an aspect of architecture that can never be treated as secondary: fire safety.

As our buildings become taller, denser and technologically more complex, safety cannot remain a layer added after design. It must be embedded into the architecture from the outset, through planning, material choices, passive protection systems, evacuation strategies and responsible ex*****on.

For architects and building professionals, this is not merely a matter of compliance. It is a fundamental responsibility towards the people who inhabit the spaces we create.

Disasters are often treated as moments of response, but the real work has to begin much earlier.

Speaking with Zee Business, I discussed why we need to look at both sides of disaster management: what we do before a disaster strikes, and how we rebuild after it.

Pre-disaster planning must focus on risk mapping, stronger building standards, resilient infrastructure, protection of natural drainage systems and better preparedness at the local level. Post-disaster response, meanwhile, cannot simply mean restoring what existed before. Reconstruction must address the vulnerabilities that made the damage possible in the first place.

If we keep rebuilding the same risks into our cities and settlements, we are only preparing for the next tragedy.

Speaking with ABP News, I raised a concern that we continue to confront only after tragedy strikes: the neglect of our buildings.

Ageing structures, visible cracks, unauthorised alterations, poor maintenance and delayed structural assessments are often treated as routine issues until they become life-threatening. A building does not suddenly become unsafe overnight. In many cases, the warning signs are already there.

We need a culture where periodic structural audits, timely repairs and strict supervision are treated as essential public-safety measures, not optional expenses.

When maintenance is postponed and warning signs are ignored, the consequences can be irreversible. The responsibility is not only to build safely, but to ensure that buildings remain safe throughout their entire life.

09/09/2026

Speaking with India Today, I reflected on why moments of tragedy cannot become exercises in simply shifting blame.

When lives are lost, the larger question must be: what needs to change? We need better planning, better maintenance, stronger enforcement, regular structural audits, greater accountability and a much more serious culture of safety across our cities.

Responsibility is rarely limited to one moment or one agency. It is built over years through how we design, approve, maintain, monitor and repair our buildings.

We cannot keep waiting for a disaster to expose weaknesses we already know exist. The focus now has to move beyond blame towards better systems, better preparedness and safer cities.

The tragic building collapse near Delhi University’s South Campus is not just an unfortunate accident. It is a disturbing reminder of what can happen when ageing structures, maintenance concerns and ongoing construction are not treated with the seriousness they demand.

The loss of lives in an incident like this is deeply painful, and my heartfelt condolences are with the families of those who have lost their loved ones.

Speaking with Aaj Tak, I reflected on a larger concern that our cities can no longer afford to ignore.
