In ancient Japan, master potters began with Nerikomi a poetic dance of patience.
They knead vibrant clays into a single, marbled loaf like mixing ink in water, slice it into paper thin sheets, and gently assemble them into vessels. As the kiln’s fire breathes life, intricate patterns of agate veins emerge, flowing endlessly like a Zen river carving stone.
Across the seas in Europe, Agateware tells a bolder tale. Artisans wedge contrasting clays into swirling harmony, then spin them alive on the wheel centrifugal force twisting colors into deep, embedded rivers. A final carve reveals hidden depths, turning humble pots into gemstones that capture light and time.
This Ceramic Marble Pot celebrates both worlds colliding in clay.
