The "Sound of Music" play was a fund-raiser to help complete the construction of the next phase of ‘St. Thomas Academy’ School in Goregoan, Mumbai in January, 2014. Held on the church grounds, the play was enacted with Lavine DaCosta’s Ensemble featuring two 1st Violins, a second violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, flute, saxophone and an accompanying keyboard.(Octet) This is the first time a play was enacted with live music and singing, upgrading the standard of school theatre to that of a Broadway musical. The background score was arranged, transcribed and conducted by Lavine DaCosta. Bishop Bosco Penha compared the quality of the music delivered by the musicians to that of an experience in Vienna. The musical was house full on both the days of screening the play.
Featuring in the Octet was also Lavine's father, Francis DaCosta, Sanjeev Rao, Sandeep Thakur, Errol Monserrate, P S Ramachandran, Andrew Ferrao and Ashton Colaco.
