Road accidents can be prevented by following road safety rules: District Collector Rajarshi Shah
Precious human lives can be saved only if everyone strictly follows road safety rules, said District Collector Rajarshi Shah.
He participated as the chief guest in the awareness program on “2026 National Road Safety Month Celebrations” held on Thursday at Government High School Number-1 in the town.
On this occasion, the skits and speeches presented by the school students on road safety made everyone reflect deeply.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that such programs are being organized in schools with the intention of creating awareness about road safety not only among adults but also among students from a young age. He advised that overspeeding is extremely dangerous and that helmets and seat belts must be worn while driving vehicles. He requested students to explain to their parents the disasters caused by drunk driving. He warned that children below 18 years of age should not drive vehicles under any circumstances. He reminded that following road signs and traffic rules is the responsibility of every citizen. Along with road safety, he advised students to focus on studies and work hard to secure the top position in the district in the upcoming Class 10 examinations.
Later, the District Collector, Additional Collector, officials, and students took a pledge to follow road safety rules.
The program was attended by Additional Collector Rajeshwar, District Transport Officer Srinivas, Mandal Education Officer Somayya, School Headmistress Neeladevi, Coordinator Tirupati, Motor Vehicle Inspectors, teachers, students, and others.
