Marcel Vogel steps up for this week’s In The Basement mix. The German-born, Amsterdam-based DJ, producer, and founder of the seminal Lumberjacks in Hell whose passion for raw, soulful sounds and impeccable crate-digging has earned him a devoted following across the global underground disco and house scene. 🪩

His selection is a masterclass in deep Chicago roots and leftfield soul opening with Javonnette’s “We Go Way Back” and weaving through Sterling Void’s “Runaway Girl,” Mr Lee & Company’s “Can You Feel It,” and Armand van Helden’s “Medicine Man.” Joe Claussell’s edit of Cosmicdelic Africa’s “Mouodilo” and Pepe Bradock & Michelle Weeks’ “Movin On” bring warmth and weight, while Yankari Afrobeat Collective’s FRAWL remix adds a hypnotic late-session groove. Dive in and experience a selector who lets the music do all the talking. 🎶

Amman-based .sarayrah is a stalwart of Jordan’s alternative music scene, and currently the lead guitarist in Autostrad, one of the pioneers of indie music in the Middle East over the last 20 years. ✨

In recent years, however, he’s swapped guitar, bass and drums for electronics and stepped out under his own name. His second album IRTH-TRONIC, released at the end of July by Amman-based collective Keife, melds Arabic maqam systems, Nabatean poetry and Bedouin musical traditions with melodic, progressive electronic music to great effect. 🎶

Originally from the desert south of the country, Sarayrah is a long-time resident of the capital, Amman, from where he took a break from Autostrad rehearsals to give us a taste of the electronic music scene in a city rarely visited by western artists. 🛫

Zimbabwean producer Nitefreak has spent the past decade shaping his own lane within Afro House, and that same independence now defines Afroholic Records , the label he co-founded with Terrie. The imprint recently passed 10 million streams, a milestone that reflects both its rapid growth and the clarity of vision behind it. ⚡️

Nitefreak talks about the decision to move from releasing on established labels to running his own, the operational realities of publishing, distribution and artist development, and how growing up in Bulawayo shaped a sound that owes little to any single scene. He also discusses life on the road, his approach to writing between studio sessions and hotel rooms, and where he sees Afroholic heading by the end of 2026. ✨

Some records take on a life of their own long before they’re officially released and s “Boujee” is exactly that kind of track. First tested on an unsuspecting crowd during her debut Belgium set in 2024, it’s spent two years living in her sets, picking up fans who’ve been hunting for the track ID ever since. Now, as she steps back onto the Tomorrowland Mainstage this year, the record finally gets its official release - a genuine full-circle moment! ✨

Built on a hybrid style that fuses live drum pads with DJing, and shaped by a Manchester music scene she credits for teaching her how to build a real connection with a crowd, Stephani B’s rise has been anything but overnight. ⚡️

Find out more about the collaboration behind “Boujee,” the drumming background that shaped her sound, and the advice she’d give any young woman trying to break into the scene right now. Full interview - link in bio. 📰

On this week’s episode, we have a special guest coming from Derry via Ibiza. L.A. DYSTO takes the controls for ITB112, delivering a razor-sharp selection ⚡️

L.A. DYSTO is a project built around the core trio of Jonny Mac, Steky and Shay in Derry, with vocalist Theo Suess from Suess Media recording from a home studio in Ibiza. 🏝️

Their latest release, "Peace, Love & Ecstasy", began life as Jonny’s lockdown rant against leaders more interested in banks and wars than poverty and rising rents, grew into a two-sided statement, paired with a stripped-back, first-person flip of Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love.” 🎶
