To all the volunteers, who come in to the Stella Maris Centre for the Seafood Festival Weekend, thank you so so much , when it's not your every day job it can sometimes be daunting, so from all of us ,a huge thank you. 🌊 Festival Lecture: Flood Risk at Ballyteigue & Bridgetown 🌊

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking festival lecture with Jim Hurley, respected local environmentalist, as he explores the history, causes and future of flood risk in the Ballyteigue and Bridgetown area.

Drawing on his extensive local knowledge and passion for the environment, Jim will discuss the challenges facing our coastline and communities, and why understanding these issues is more important than ever.

Whether you’re interested in local history, the environment, or the future of our coastal communities, this is a talk not to be missed.

🍳 CHEF SPOTLIGHT: Meet Warren Gillen! 🍳
Wexford foodies, rejoice! We are incredibly proud to welcome the award-winning Warren Gillen to the Fish Friday stage on July 10th here in Kilmore Quay!

As the former owner of the legendary La Riva and Cistín Eile in Wexford town and the mastermind behind the brilliant new Gillen’s Cafe in Enniscorthy, Warren is widely celebrated for championing the absolute best of local, seasonal Irish ingredients. When Warren cooks, he brings a unique, contemporary twist to traditional flavours.

Here is what Warren had to say about the upcoming festival:

🐟 What is your absolute favorite Kilmore Quay catch to cook with?
👉 I love all freshly caught fish but personally the humble fresh haddock is hard to beat, fillets simply panfried, sweet and flavoursome. I am parshel to a few fresh scallops too, seared dark and rare in the middle , delicious!!

🍋 What is your number one tip for cooking fish at home without panicking?
👉 Get your fishmonger to fillet & bone yr fish in easily managable portions. If Pan frying use a good nonstick pan, add a light coating of non flavoured oil, heat up well, dry fish with paper towel, place in pan and season well, reduce heat and cook on skin side 3/4 way until flesh is translucent, flip over add butter, lemon juice, baste and serve!

With beautiful sunshine forecast, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy everything the Seafood Festival has to offer. Bring a bucket and spade, soak up the atmosphere and let the little ones have fun while you relax by the sea.

🐻 Don’t forget, our Teddy Bears’ Picnic takes place by the playground on Saturday, so bring your favourite teddy along for some extra family fun!
