Triscala

Triscala A stand alone interactive art installation conceived by a collaboration of collectives and talented international individuals.

Our name Triscala, is inspired by the triple spiral or triskele, a symbol used by the ancient peoples to represent unity and balance. Its interpretation varies across Pagan mythologies, representing the unity of the land, sea and sky or the mother, maiden and crone, or more recently the father, son and holy-spirit. But its essence is that of a wholeness achieved by the synthesis of various individ

ual elements. This is a part of the notion of self, in that we are many different elements and experiences tied together in the creation of the whole. We represent this in our piece by the combining of our separate groups to create an interactive piece with a physical element in the structure, a spiritual element in the mandala, and a technological element in the interactivity and reaction. The physical and spiritual realities combine with the new virtual one in the playful immediacy of our existence. The alchemy of interaction between the participants as they synchronise consciousness and play with the lights and sounds gives rise to the realisation that we are simultaneously part of the universal reality while being unique individuals with our part to play in the cosmic dance. There is a staunch contrast between the flashing disco patterns on the outside and the relaxed, sacred space that is created within - people and things are not always as they initially appear.
