Hedgerows with their trees 🌲 grasses 🌼 and waterways 💧 are great for biodiversity..so too are pocket size 2 x 4 m allotments as Kristian explained today here in Århus Denmark. Could we make room for some of these in Ballyboughal???

Wonderful Bat 🦇 Walk with Expert Brian Keeley founder of Bat Conservation Ireland in Ballyboughal on Saturday - A big thanks 🙏 to local farmers letting us in onto private lands.
A fitting way to celebrate the magical May evening. Once the swifts by Ballyboughal Church of the Assumption settled we waited in vain for the shy Leislers bats to appear. Luckily the Soprano Pipistrelle and Common Pipistrelle were more sociable - they treated us to spectacular displays in the Nature Reserve. Thanks you 🙏 to the 19 adventurous bat fans who supported us

The GAA funraiser the Ducks was a fab day for all ages especially the kids! The ducks are recycled yearly and NONE escape downriver so there's no plastic pollution

A big thanks to Dublin Rural Leader for our Hedgerow Grant for non fossil fuel electric power tools and solar power bird boxes with cameras. Already observing great bird and mammal garden activity!

We are so sad that our Wimbleton neighbour Eithne McGlennon has passed. She was a great Hedgerow supporter allowing us plant a mini wood behind her house (LEADER grant funded). So happy she came to Hedgelaying (sponsored by FINGAL Co Co) by Whites Agri in Feb. 26, she attended both days.
