Sligo Urban Sketching Group is about showing up, slowing down and drawing our towns together.

We sketch on location, sharing moments, curiosity about streets, people and stories. All levels are welcome, bring a sketchbook, connect and enjoy drawing Sligo.

A great day out with Sligo Urban Sketching Group and a great turnout, with a number of new sketchers welcomed along. The group worked around John Street and the Cathedrals with a great variety of sketches and styles. The rain held off making it a very enjoyable session and was followed off afterwards with coffee and cakes at the The Glasshouse Hotel.

We are an informal group, open to anyone who wishes to come along to any or all of our days out sketching around Sligo. There is no Booking required, nor is there any charge or any ‘minimum’ skill level.

If you are visiting Sligo you are very welcome to come along to any of future dates (last Sunday of the month).

Please Share if you know someone who may be interested in coming along.

Next event is - Sunday 27 September 2026, 11am to 1pm (with a get-together afterwards for a coffee). Meet up outside The Glasshouse Hotel, Hyde Bridge.

Sligo Urban Sketching Group are heading for our next outing tomorrow, Sunday 30 August 11am - 1pm with a get together for coffee afterwards.

There is a possibility of some rain during the session so please bring along some rain gear (just in case….!)

We will meet up by the Glasshouse Hotel by The Hyde bridge entrance.

This is a free event and no booking required, just come along for as long as you want.

If you would like to come and try out sketching but cannot make it tomorrow there will be many more opportunities, we meet up on the last Sunday of every month.

The next outing of Sligo Urban Sketching Group is on Sunday 30 August 11am - 1pm with a get together for coffee afterwards.

There is no booking required, no charge or fee, we’re just a group of people who like to sketch our surroundings. All you need do is turn up and start sketching … there is no ‘minimum’ standard required, we welcome all abilities. If you think it might be something you would like to try then please come along, it’s a friendly and welcoming group.

If you would like to come and try out sketching but cannot make it this month there will be many more opportunities, we meet up on the last Sunday of every month.

We’re getting ready for the next outing of Sligo Urban Sketching Group, Sunday 30 August. We welcome all skill levels, there is no set standard and no charges or booking. All we ask is you just turn up, bring a sketchbook, draw, meet new friends, drink some coffee, and most importantly, have fun sketching our environment here in Sligo.

If you’re visiting Sligo you are very welcome to come along and join in. Please share if you know someone who may be interested.

If you’re new to sketching, rekindling a long lost love of drawing or just unsure about sketching in public then this is a great opportunity to try it out in a safe and supportive environment.

Do follow us to get updates and tips/ideas about sketching and preparation for the day.

Another wonderful day with Sligo Urban Sketching Group. The group concentrated around Wine street and Union Street with an amazing variation of sketches and styles. It was nice to see some more new faces coming along and to chat with locals and visitors. Followed off afterwards with coffee and cakes at the The Glasshouse Hotel whose hospitality and patience was greatly appreciated.

We intend to sketch around the area of Wine Street / Union Street.

If you are unsure about taking part or what it involves then feel free to just pop along and chat with any of us.

We’re coming up to our latest outing of Sligo Urban Sketching Group this Sunday 26 July. If you’re curious about sketching but unsure what happens at the event or nervous about turning up, or your skills …. don’t worry, we are a friendly group whose only interest is getting out about the town sketching and supporting each other. There is no minimum standard of skill ‘required’ and no charge!

If you’re visiting Sligo, you’re very welcome to join us.

We will meet at The Glasshouse Hotel by Hyde Bridge, 11am to 1pm followed by tea/coffee/cakes afterwards!

Another great turnout with Sligo Urban Sketching Group Sunday just gone. The group sketched around the area of Harmony Hill and Dominick Street with some truly great sketches capturing the essence of the hill and some of the detail in the buildings. The rain held off which is always a bonus. Followed off afterwards at the The Glasshouse Hotel with Coffee, some very sweet and delicious things and a ’show’ of each others work.

Just a reminder we have our latest outing of Sligo Urban Sketching Group tomorrow, Sunday 28 June 11am - 1pm with a get together for coffee afterwards.

The weather has obviously broken a bit for us and there is a possibility of some showers tomorrow but we will still be going out so maybe bring along a raincoat but hopefully not needed!

We intend to sketch around the area of Harmony Hill at the end of O’Connell Street.
