Sligo Urban Sketching Group is about showing up, slowing down and drawing our towns together.

We sketch on location, sharing moments, curiosity about streets, people and stories. All levels are welcome, bring a sketchbook, connect and enjoy drawing Sligo.

You don’t need to bring a pizza box to sketch with, a pen and paper is all you really need … but the box was a great surface (and a surprise idea!). Join us for our next outing here in Sligo on Sunday 28 June. Check back for location and do share with others.

Great outing today of Sligo Urban Sketching Group. The weather cleared for us and some great Sketching along the Garavouge River and a chat and coffee afterwards in the Glasshouse Hotel. We meet up on the last Sunday of the month so our next gathering is Sunday 28 June. Put in your diary and share with someone who you think may be interested.

Just a reminder in case you missed it previously, we’re all set up for the next outing of Sligo Urban Sketching Group this coming Sunday 31 May. The group is open to anyone who wants to come and join us sketching Sligo and all it has to offer. If you’re coming to visit Sligo over the Bank Holiday Weekend you are very welcome to join us. There is no minimum standard or ability required of anyone, just to turn up and have a great time. If you know someone who may be interested then please share.
Meet at The Glasshouse Hotel 11am with coffee and cakes afterwards.

We’re gearing up for the next outing of Sligo Urban Sketching Group at the end of the month. If you’ve never tried sketching outdoors (or any sketching) then this may be the ideal time to try. The group is very friendly, supportive and inclusive. We will be sketching along the river between Hyde Bridge and Riverside so if you are unsure then please feel free to pop along during the morning and have a chat with any of the group. If your visiting Sligo for the Bank Holiday Weekend then you are very welcome to come along and sketch with us.

A great day out today with Sligo Urban Sketching Group, the sun came out and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The group, in the main headed up along Stephens St to The Mall with a great variety of buildings and structures to choose from. Followed off afterwards at the with Coffee, scones and a ’show’ of each others work. We are an informal group open to anyone who wishes to come along to any or all of our days out sketching Sligo. If you are visiting Sligo you are very welcome to come along to any of future dates (last Sunday of the month). Please Share if you know someone who may be interested in coming along.
Next event is - Sunday 31 May 2026, 11am to 1pm (with a get-together afterwards for a coffee). Meet up outside the Glasshouse Hotel, Hyde Bridge.

The weather is looking good for our next 'Meet Up' on Sunday, so two essentials are some Suncream and a hat, hopefully we will need them but always good to have if you're outside sketching.

A great turnout for todays Sligo Urban Sketching Group. With the weather improving it made for a great mornings sketching around Quay Street and river. Great to have Steve Kroger, visiting from Ohio, with us chronicling their travels around Ireland in Journal form. ‘Sligo Urban Sketching Group’ is meeting up again, tomorrow, Sunday 29 March. All skill levels are welcome to come along to this event. Hopefully the rain will have passed by the time we are meeting up but if not we will look at some of the indoor options.
