IBBD - Irish Board of Ballroom Dancing The Irish Board of Ballroom Dancing will look after the needs of both social and competitive dancers

The new National Dance Council for Northern Ireland has been formed as an independant association directly affiliated to

"The World Dance Council ( WDC ). "
Now called " THE IRISH BOARD OF BALLROOM DANCING"
We are an association originally formed in 1938 a "The Northern Ireland Society of Teachers of Dancing" and still remain so, going into our 77th year. It is our intent

ion to try to do our best for the Social and Competitive market by bringing a greater understanding through technique and styling suitable for all. We look forward to the road ahead and welcome all to be a part of it. Qualified professional dance teachers will be welcomed as well as a social dancers section for those who want to enjoy the benefits of this new council. Membership fees will be available on request and as an examining body both Professional and Amateur tests will be provided by our highy qualified examiners. It’s with great sadness we learn of the passing of our President Jim Tinneny. Jim was a very well known and respected gentleman in the dance world in both Northern and Southern Ireland. Jim, along with his beloved Wife Josephine and Daughter’s Shona and Helga ran a very successful dance school along with many dance weekends throughout the year.

He will be a major loss to us all but will always be remembered for his encouragement, straight talking and wittiness approach to everything. Our Jim never let anyone get one up on him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Josephine, Shona, Helga and all Jim’s extended family at this very sad time.

RIP Jimbob 🙏

The IBBD would like to congratulate Mr DONNIE BURNS MBE on being re-elected as the President of the World Dance Council. We would also like to congratulate the Board of Directors especially our wonderful Honorary Member MR STEVE POWELL.

Fantastic to see Mr Bryan Allen receiving an Honorary Membership to the WDC.

Congratulations to Hannes & everyone involved for the huge amount of work they have gone to to enable us proceed with our meetings during these unprecedented times.
