Downpatrick old Police Station - Disused from 2015 🚨

The building began life as a Georgian townhouse, dating from around the late 18th century, long before it was adapted for policing. Inside, traces of that earlier life still survive.

This Thursday, I’ll be sharing more of the history of the old station, including footage from inside,alongside our old gaols, barracks, borstals & prison complexes as part of my Stone, Shadow and Memory talk in Downpatrick County Musuem.

St Ronan's College - Abandoned from 2025

Can anyone help me name the classrooms? πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

Opened in 1962 as St Paul’s Intermediate School, the Francis Street campus later became St Paul’s Junior High before forming part of St Ronan’s College in 2015.

When the new Β£56 million St Ronan’s campus opened in 2025, this old school finally fell silent.

A suitcase containing years of letters was left inside this house. Where is it now?

The rest of the house revealed glimpses of a fascinating man, family photographs, antiques, unusual books, old films and reminders of his passion for MG cars.

I never met Robert, but through the things he left behind, I felt as though I had begun to know him.

I have now returned to the house and almost everything shown in these photographs has disappeared.

I’ve shared my complete original photographic documentation on the website.
