On May 19th and 20th Rebellion 220 is happening in Monasterevin. Come along for the sights and sounds of the Battle of Monasterevin in the 1798 Rebellion.

The re-enactment was always a favorite in the VoI Festival and we're glad to support this event by asking you to Like & Share.

Monasterevin Rising!

Timetable

2pm Start of Parade from West End down Main Street.

2:15pm Raising of the National Flag at the Fire Station.

2:30pm Reading of the Proclamation at the Monument.

2:45pm Return March to West End via Main Street.

3pm Presentation and Reenactment at the West End.

Temporary road closures and diversions will be in effect. Please comply with the stewards. No parking at the West End.

Monasterevin Rising!

On New Year's Day the National Flag, alongside the Flag of the Irish Republic and the Starry Plough, was raised at Dublin Castle to mark the start of the 1916 Commemorations.

On Saturday 26th of March Monasterevin will raise the National Flag at the the Fire Station on Main Street at 2:15pm.

We ask you to join us in standing to attention and singing the National Anthem as the flag is raised. By respecting the flag we show we value what it represents; our whole community. Lets all come together for Monasterevin Rising! and mark this unique time.

1916 Easter Rising Commemoration

Announcement of a Public Meeting

Thursday 1st October at 8:30pm in the Council Hall, Main Street Monasterevin

You are invited to attend a public meeting announcing Monasterevin’s programme of events to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising. Lord Edward’s Own Living History in partnership with Kildare County Council, local groups and schools will lead a number of events including ceremonial, educational, cultural, and a re-enactment on Saturday March 26th 2016.

In accordance with the strands of commemoration set out in the national programme we want to see the widest community participation, especially from families and children so that the legacy of the generation of 1916 is passed on to future generations. The events will be non-political and history focused.

We would love to see as many interested people turn up to hear what’s planned and to contribute ideas and help. Monasterevin summons her people to the commemoration of 1916 in what promises to be one of the events of note in Kildare and Ireland’s programme of events.

Thursday 1st October at 8:30pm in the Council Hall, Main Street Monasterevin.
