Wim Wenders, the Oscar-nominated German filmmaker probably best known for his 1984 iconic road-trip drama Paris, Texas, is also at the helm for one of the most amazing music documentaries ever made, Beuna Vista Social Club.

Set primarily in and around the backstreets of Havana in the late 1990s, a forgotten group of elderly Cuban musicians are brought together by Ry Cooder to record a CD. With stunning cinematography of Havana's luminous streets, iconic soundtracks and some amazing individual performances, Beuna Vista Social Club is the perfect 🎬 to kick-start our series of films at The Kilmorna Collection next Thursday evening at 7.30pm. Some tickets are still available and can be purchased on the TKC website. Hope to see you there!

THE PICTURES ARE COMING TO CHURCH STREET.

A cinema and a record shop have been talking.

There was probably only one way that was going to end.

From September, SluaghHall and The Kilmorna Collection are coming together for a series of films at TKC.

Not just any films.

Films about music.
Films about musicians.
Films about records, scenes, movements and the people who became slightly obsessed with them.

In other words, films we will be arguing about.

It starts on Thursday, 3 September.

We have chosen the first film.

We think it’s a rather good place to begin.

We’ll tell you what it is shortly.

We're also delighted to be working on a collab with another enterprising individual in Listowel bringing some great movies to town prior to opening Sluagh Hall Family Entertainment & Leisure Centre. If you want to know what it's like to run a single-screen cinema in the 80s then this dramedy will bring back many memories. is written and directed by Limerick native David Gleeson (cousin of Kieran) and tells the story of a not-so-typical Friday night. It was shot completely in (Royal Cinema) and is inspired by David's father who worked in the business for 78 years (a world record).
