What an unforgettable run of the musical Rock Bottom at The Garage Theatre on June 6th. My heart is so full.
To CreativeIrl, Creative Monaghan, and Cruinniú na nÓg, we could not have put this incredible show on without their amazing programme! The only country in the world to offer a day of free creative activities for young people!! How wonderful is that!!! Huge thanks to Audrey Wilson, the Creative Communities Engagement Officer in Monaghan CoCo for all her encouragement and support and to Emily Madden for taking and putting together so beautifully the attached video at a rehearsal 👏
To the incredible cast, the powerhouse backstage crew, the creative thinking, and every single person who took time out of their day and stepped through the doors and filled a seat, thank you. Your energy, your laughter, your applause, and your support turned this show into something truly special.
Live theatre truly works when a community lifts it up, and you all did exactly that. This show has left me overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation. This wasn’t just a show it was a commitment from parents and cast members where we created such a safe place for everyone to be so creative.
This cast was a reminder to me of how powerful kindness and creativity can be when they come together. Thank you all for the lovely flowers and gifts, not needed at all but really appreciated 💕
To our incredible backstage team, Conor Brady, James Hackett, Shauna McKenna, Jessica Hand, Alec Moyna, Sorcha Moyna, Olivia Quigley, Enda Treanor, and Paula Sherry, you were the quiet heroes of this production. You held everything together with patience, care, and an unshakeable sense of teamwork. Every smooth transition, every solved problem, every moment of calm in the chaos happened because of you and all done with humour and a smile of your faces! 💪
To Dylan Connolly and Raymond McMahon, thank you for crafting the feel of this show with your sound and lighting artistry. You didn’t just run the technical side, you shaped the storyline and the atmosphere, Your work elevated everything we did. Having Raymond there was a full circle moment for me, he was part of one of our first musicals around 8 years ago so it is lovely to see him continue his creative journey! 5th show in the Garage Theatre and Dylan just gets easier to work with, nothing is too much for him! 🎵 💡
To Joanne and Eilleen, thank you for welcoming us so openly and for giving us the privilege of working in such fantastic facility. Your warmth set the tone for the entire experience, and we felt supported from the moment we arrived at the Garage Theatre. 🎭
To Nicola from The Perfect Picture for taking the perfect pictures!!! She captured the night so perfectly!! 💕
And to the cast!! You were the kindest cast to work with. You created a rehearsal room filled with trust, laughter, and genuine care and at times you lifted my spirit when I truly needed it over the last year! Very few tears were shed, and that’s because you built a space where everyone felt safe and valued. You weren’t just performers, you were collaborators. You shaped every creative decision, every moment of storytelling, every beat of this musical. Your passion and generosity made this show what it was. And we made the RTE News, now that is cool!!💕
We bid farewell to Amy McCrystal this year who will be starting her journey into secondary school in September. Amy’s final year with us was a gift. She is such a kind soul and a steady source of warmth, humour, and heart. She performed so well! Good luck with your next chapter!! ☘️
To everyone onstage, backstage and in the audience, thank you for making this journey unforgettable. It may have been called Rock Bottom, but with all of you, that couldn’t have been further from the truth! 💖
