The Downs Community Games

The Downs Community Games There are winter and summer activities or competitions running from November till June.

The Downs Community Area includs the townlands of The Downs, Curraghmoore, Ardmore, Marlinstown, Glen Petit, Richdale Court and the north side of the Dublin rd as far as the old Westmeath Motors/Cool beans) Our catchment are the town lands of The Downs, Curraghmoore, Marlinstown, Ardmore (including the Ardmore Road and Ardmore Hills), Glenn Petit, Clongawny, Baltrasna, Cartronganny, Windstown, Kn

ockaville and Heatstown. At present we participate in the following competitions at county level: athletics, swimming, soccer, mixed distance relays, long puck, dance, music, recitation, draughts, chess, quiz, art, handwriting and model-making. We could offer the following activities if more parents got involved: rounders, hurling and camogie, gaelic football, mini rugby and tag rugby, Olympic handball, cross-country running, table tennis, basketball, gymnastics and various talent competitions. Support your child and continuing community games in our area by volunteering to help.

The U16 Westmeath Community Games Qualifers for pitch and putt took place over the bank holiday weekend in Kilbeggan. Well done to all our golfers who played in very wet conditions.
Ann Curran secured 2nd place in the girls competition with Ben Conroy securing 3rd in the boys. Both will go through to the National finals in July. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Fantastic performance by these four ladies in the recent cross country finals with Lilly winning the national title and all her team mates running out of their skins to secure the Fourth place medal ..๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ.
