One of my favourite steps, adding the final gloss varnish✨

Oil paint takes a bit longer to dry than other mediums, so I wait several weeks between finishing the painting and varnishing. But the wait is always worth it to bring out the depth and richness of colour that oils are known for ❤️

Varnishing also protects against UV and dust!

Why don’t I finish a live painting on the wedding day? So that I can spend time in the studio refining all the little details, like this lion statue from Clontarf Castle ✨

Live painting during the wedding is when I get to paint the atmosphere, excitement and emotion of the day, while the studio touch-ups after give me time to slow down and bring all those details together into the finished piece.
