join the contestants in the setting of a perky game-show, a grotesque territory of a continuous present where the individual perishes willingly in a vortex of the different manifestations of societal ‘mantras’: individualism, meritocracy, competition, performance, flexibility, adaptability and upgrade.
The overly promoted gadget of the game-show - Sinotron - is just another incorporation of them, amongst many others. Sinotron promises happiness by upgrading you to your best self; ‘GRAND’ invites the audience to question whose definitions of ‘happiness’ or ‘best self’ are we buying, and what is the real lived price we pay for them.
