Today, the Irish music community has lost one of its greatest voices.
Everyone at Aurfest is deeply saddened by the passing of Glen Hansard. His music, honesty, and extraordinary songwriting touched audiences across Ireland and around the world. From his unforgettable work with The Frames and Once to his remarkable solo career, his songs will continue to inspire generations.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Glen's family, friends, bandmates, and everyone who loved his music during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you, Glen, for the music, the passion, and the stories.
May you rest in peace.

How lucky were we this year with the beautiful souls that attended aurfest 2026 . You were absolutely incredible. The vibes. The love. The support. WOW

To every artist, musician, comedian, DJ, volunteer, ticket holder, vendor, friend and family member who helped bring aur second aurfest festival to life we are so deeply grateful. What a weekend. We love you all

This festival was a labour of love ,months of planning, late nights, tears, sore feet, sore backs, sore heads, and exhaustion we didn’t know was possible… all for one unforgettable weekend.

We went through every emotion as a team, but we did it together 💗 what a team

But we also want to be honest.

Grassroots culture in Ireland is struggling right now. Costs are rising, support is harder to secure, and yet the need for spaces like this has never mattered more.

We do this for the artists. For the unbelievable talent across Ireland that deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated. And for community, connection, and those moments that remind you why music and art matter.

We’ve managed to self-fund and were supported by some incredible people and companies in Louth and beyond but like so many grassroots festivals, we are still facing a shortfall from our first year. We have seen so many festivals close and we would hate for that to happen to aurfest

We want to keep this alive. Keep culture alive. Keep giving artists a stage.

We are a female-led team unheard of in this industry supported by an incredible mix of men and women who gave everything to make this happen.

A huge thank you to everyone who made it possible our volunteers, welfare team, sound engineers, all the companies who supported us, our sponsors vendors, friends, family,, comedians, musicians and DJs. There is so many people who showed up.

And to Bellurgan Park for trusting us with such a beautiful space it meant everything.

If you were part of this, you already know what it was.

If you want to help us continue into AurFest 2026, any support is deeply appreciated. Every cent goes directly back into keeping this dream alive.
