Elements of Action is a collaborative design practice working in furniture design, landscape architecture and project management. We design and curate bespoke furniture and gifts with clever details and push the boundaries of design to create dramatic contemporary works with deep roots in the local landscape, materials and traditional techniques. All work is designed and handmade in Ireland by our

director Edward Coveney. Elements of Action outsource a small portion of work to local master crafts. All furniture is hand crafted using locally sourced materials brass and steel and vernacular indigenous wood and stone. EOA are members of the Institute Designers Ireland and the Landscape Institute. Our work is recently shortlisted for two IDI awards to be announced in November 2016. www.elementsofaction.net

ASH + BRASS

The bringing together of ash and brass,
native timber and foundry metal,
the organic and the considered.

Irish Ash, sourced from Springfield Farm
reimagined and transformed into a sculptural plant stand, that holds something living.

Each piece begins with the tree itself,
its grain a record of soil, season, and time.
Ash is a working wood: honest, open-grained, warm in light.

Anchored with a decorative brass frame.
Solid, warm-toned, and built to age with presence, brass deepends over time rather than diminishes.
Each piece celebrates the contrast between
living material and lasting form.

Created in collaboration with Esther Gerrard and Ed Coveney of Elements of
Action, whose work unites craftsmanship, landscape, and materials.

Thank you to all who came to Springfield for our hands on activities; it was very special to bring the Makers Corner to our own Field Studio and put into action our plans for creative agriculture experiences at our Farm in East Cork;

We will continue to host seasonal workshops and plans are afoot for more craft retreats as new inland wellness for grounding ourselves and burnout cures. We offer foliage foraging to wreath making ; our Springfield Farm hands-on workshops offer a way to unplug while picking up a new hobby in the land of the land.

Join us for a workshop, a wonderful opportunity to get together, learn about local materials and be creative . Kokedama (苔玉), meaning “moss ball” in Japanese, is a plant grown with its roots wrapped in a ball of soil and clay, then covered in living moss instead of being placed in a pot. Originating from Japanese bonsai traditions, it’s both a sculptural object and a living plant.

🌿 Fancy an alternative Valentine join us at the Makers Corner tomorrow 🌿

We are hosting craft and create Kokedama and seasonal wreath workshops at our studio in Cork.

Alongside our wreath making, we are delighted to introduce kokedama; Japanese inspired plants held in a moss-ball, hand-shaped using peat-free soil, natural clay, moss and twine.

No pots, no plastic, no imports no roses - just slow making with local materials.

Each workshop is a small, relaxed session where you will create a living piece to take home, rooted in care for land, craft and season. Bring your own house plant or choose flowering bulbs or our house plant selection.
