Some info on the ship.
A steam grab dredger, completed in August 1907 for Waterford Harbour Commissioners by Dublin Dockyard, Dublin, Ireland (57) 401 g.t., as 'Portlairge' and always under this name.
She remained in service until 1980.
Waterford Harbour commisioners had planned to sell her to Maryport Maritime Museum, Cumbria, but the plans fell through.
The vessel was eventually sold to a man from Saltmills in County Wexford for 3,000 pounds in 1987 and sailed under her own steam to her final destination. The Portlairge is now lying beached in Bannow Bay near Saltmills and has deteriorated considerably.
