Beautiful. Sad.
Since I shared news of my terminal diagnosis, the love & generosity you have shown to our little family bookshop has blown our hearts wide open ❤️
I'm usually a private person but posted about my diagnosis to give customers an explanation for myself & Pat's absence - we didn't expect the support of thousands, we didn't expect to be overwhelmed with love 😭❤️
For 13 years, I poured my energy, myself, my heart into the shop. I wished, hoped, worried, pulled and dragged the shop into the world. When I met my husband, he had to learn to love and work in the shop too (we came as a pair😬). We lived on so little so we could keep Scéal Eile Books alive. Owning a bookshop is not an easy thing, booksellers joke that it is a calling. But oh we have had many adventures. We have sold books to museums & galleries in New York, Amsterdam, Barcelona, to collectors all over the world, and we have sold Minecraft books to kids in exchange for their life savings, clutched in a sticky hand 😅
I had no idea that through all this, you were there, falling a little bit in love with Scéal Eile Books too ❤️
Thank you for showing me that the shop we built, my little dream, is so loved by you. In a world of retail giants, thank you for seeing us ❤️
Sorry if the messages, emails & letters you sent haven't been answered, or have just had automated replies, we really want you all to know that every message has been read, every one of them has touched us, there's just no time to reply right now. To the people who have offered to work, you are so kind. At present, it feels right for the shop to be run by family. But this may change. Again, thank you for such kindness as we stumble into our new stark reality ❤️
If you would to like to support us but aren't in Ennis, consider buying a gift voucher over the phone to be posted to your home ❤️
Love & light, Éibhleann
