Small but important milestone at JustKeepSh*****ng.

We now have the first carrying (berried) female of the Caridina tigri shrimp species.

Sulawesi Caridina spp. are among the most fascinating shrimp in the hobby yet they are threathened by the pollution of the pristine oligotrophic lakes they call home. Many are listed as critically endangered and some presumed to be extinct in the wild due to habitat destruction.

To make them thrive, it is necessary to replicate the chemistry of the ancient lake systems which have very specific conditions: warm, highly oxygenated water, pristine water quality, stable conductivity, high pH and carefully balanced ratio of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, carbonates, bicarbonates, and trace elements.

For me, this project brings the joy of species conservation. Establishing stable captive populations of these specialist shrimp helps protect these lineages from dissapearing and gives hope for an eventual reintroduction.

A tiny animal, but a meaningful step forward.

🦐 Something new is coming to Just Keep Sh*****ng

We are very pleased to announce that Just Keep Sh*****ng will soon begin stocking the GARNELEN4YOU® food range, with the first products expected to arrive around 25 August.

We decided to introduce GARNELEN4YOU® because we want our customers in Ireland to have easy access to carefully developed, high-quality shrimp foods without needing to order from abroad.

The range is developed in Germany by Dr. Philipp T. Baumann, a biologist, shrimp breeder and long-time aquatics specialist. Each formulation is designed around the nutritional needs and metabolism of Neocaridina and Caridina shrimp, rather than being adapted from general fish food.

The foods are made in Germany using carefully selected ingredients, without fish meal, cereal flour or unnecessary chemical additives. They are supplied in sustainable, resealable protective packaging and packed in a workshop for people with disabilities.

The Sulawesi expansion is officially underway at JustKeepSh*****ng.com ! 🦐🌋

We previously shared our Blue Foot Poso (Caridina caerulea), but we aren’t stopping there. We've officially started three brand-new Sulawesi lines.

Here is the exciting new lineup making its way into our breeding racks:

1. The Staple: Sulawesi Cardinals (Caridina dennerli)

The Vibe: Deep red bodies, brilliant white dots, and hyperactive white front "paws" that constantly wave while grazing.
The Roots: Endemic to Lake Matano, where they live among shallow rocky cliffs.
The Status: Critically Endangered in the wild due to invasive fish species and mining runoff. Establishing captive-bred colonies like ours is incredibly vital.

2. The Oddity: Yellow Nose (Caridina spinata)

The Vibe: A bold, striking look with yellow-orange pinstripes on a dark body and a long, distinct yellow "nose" (rostrum). They are peaceful but shy, highly active once they feel secure.
The Roots: Endemic to Lake Towuti, preferring to hang out on hard rocky substrates several meters deep.
The Status: Also classified as "Critically Endangered". They are highly sensitive to wild-harvest pressure and habitat changes, making home breeding programs all the more important.

3. The Rarity: Red Tigri (Caridina sp. "Red Tigri")

The Vibe: Sporting clear, high-contrast red and white zebra-like vertical bands, they love hanging out in small groups and grazing continuously.
The Roots: Collected from the rocky, warm waters of Lake Towuti.
The Status: A true collector's rarity with highly localized wild populations. Very few are currently bred successfully in captivity, so this is a major breeding milestone for us!

We’ve dialed in the water chemistry, set up the specialized mineral lines, and the tanks are officially buzzing with life.

The absolute giants of the snail world have landed at JustKeepSh*****ng.com ! 🍊🐌

We acclimated our new Orange Tylomelania (Tylomelania sp. "Orange"), and these guys are massive! While our Mini Tylos top out at 2 cm, these beasts easily push 8–10+ cm (3–4 inches).

We are officially launching a dedicated breeding project to establish a stable, home-bred line of these gentle giants.

Quick facts on our new tank bosses:

Bulldozer Build: Black shells, vibrant orange bodies, and a massive, muscular foot built for plowing through the tank.

Slow & Steady: They don't lay eggs. Instead, they release a single, fully formed baby in a nutrient pouch every few weeks.

Stay tuned for updates—and hopefully some giant baby pictures soon!

🆕 NEW BREEDING PROJECT: Caridina cerulea (Blue Leg Poso Shrimp) 🟦

Our next specialized breeding project has officially kicked off! Say hello to the Blue Leg Poso Shrimp.

🌍 Where do they come from?
These unique dwarf shrimp hail from Lake Poso, an ancient tectonic lake in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

🕵️‍♂️ The Look:
They have a really distinctive aesthetic; essentially a sleek, translucent body that makes their colourful accents completely stand out. The real highlights are their bright electric-blue legs, blue-tipped tails, and long, high-contrast reddish antennae. If you look closely at them, you can see them showing off those blue legs and exploring their new surroundings.

🏡 Current Status:
They have acclimated extremely well to our water parameters and didn't waste any time getting comfortable. Right now, they are all over the tank, happily grazing on the leaf litter and stripping the biofilm off the leaves. 🍂🦐

The goal is to establish a stable, hardy, home-bred line of these Sulawesi oddballs. Drop a comment if you want to follow along with the project's progress! 👇
