Massive respect and gratitude to everyone who came out to Cyprus Avenue in Cork on Thursday, August 20th, 2026! Opening the night for the legendary The Wailersโa group carrying forward the timeless legacy of Bob Marley and standard-bearers of reggae historyโwas an absolute honor. 2026 marks 50 years since the release of the landmark Rastaman Vibration album, making performing alongside them on this tour extra special.
Receiving such a warm, massive round of applause from the Cork crowd set the energy right. Huge respect as well to The Wailers' musicians themselves, who shared some incredible appreciation and love for the music as they took the stage.

To prepare the room for the reggae icons, this 90-minute warm-up selection (7:00 PM โ 8:30 PM) was designed as a chronological and stylistic journey through reggae history:
* ๐๐ค๐ค๐ฉ๐จ & ๐๐ค๐ช๐ฃ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐จ (1970๐จ): Starting with deep Roots Reggae, Sacred Rastafarian chants (The Abyssinians), Dub landmarks (Augustus Pablo), and classic Lee "Scratch" Perry productions (Max Romeo, The Congos).
* ๐๐ ๐๐ค๐ค๐ฉ๐จ ๐๐ค๐ซ๐๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ฉ: Highlighting essential British-reggae pioneers who shaped the European sound (Steel Pulse, Misty in Roots, Capital Letters, Black Slate).
* ๐๐ช๐-๐-๐ฟ๐ช๐ & ๐๐๐ง๐ก๐ฎ ๐ฟ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐ก๐ก (1980๐จ): Transitioning into the smooth, heavy rhythms of Gregory Isaacs, Frankie Paul, and Sugar Minott.
* ๐๐ค๐๐๐ง๐ฃ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐๐ก & ๐พ๐ค๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ค๐ง๐๐ง๐ฎ ๐๐ค๐ช๐ฃ๐๐จ: Bringing the vibe right up to the present day with leading figures of the 2010s/2020s Reggae Revival movement (Chronixx, Protoje, Kabaka Pyramid, Jesse Royal, Queen Omega).
By bridging original 1970s roots directly to modern Roots Revival, the set built a steady, respectful bridge to set the perfect atmosphere before The Wailers took the stage at 8:45 PM.
