We are delighted to show off our new logo. We worked with a local design company Mute Grab who realised our vision. As ever with a PlayActing project it all started with a moodboard that featured chairs, clowns, bright colours and fonts. We were looking for an updated design, that HAD to feature chairs, that it have a playful aspect but also look professional. We love it!

If the online conversations around Black Friday and the escalating excess of the holiday season sometimes leave you feeling shut down, you're not alone.

It's a topic that troubles many thoughtful hearts at this time of year. How do you honour your beautiful impulses towards generosity while staying mindful about the impact of your choices?

There are no easy answers, which is why even the word "sustainability" can sometimes spark anxiety, especially in a season where we often feel a lot of pressure to be perfect.

The Green Friday movement is a gentle response to this tension. The idea is to nurture mindful shopping, so that every purchase creates ripples of positive impact in our communities and across the world.

Sometimes that looks like buying fewer gifts, but choosing items made to last for generations.

Sometimes it's a matter of discovering gifts made with sustainable materials, with ethical labour practices.

Sometimes it's as simple as supporting a local business, where every transaction supports local jobs.

This year, Green Friday will run concurrently with Black Friday from November 29th, and to thank all of you who care so much about the choices you make, we will be offering a 15% discount on our handmade and heartfelt jewellery. This offer will be available at enibas.com and in both our stores, in Schull and Kinsale. πŸ’

Alyn Fenn: painter, writer, community worker, theatre-lover, administrator, mother and friend. Her early death in January 2024, following a short illness, rocked our small community. It is wonderful to celebrate her life and commitment to the broader West Cork community with two events on 23rd August. Firstly at 4pm, a launch at Schull Social Centre of a website where prints of her later paintings can be ordered to raise funds for Schull Community Care, to which Alyn devoted many years of work and volunteering. Following this, a launch of a retrospective entitled "A Life of Colour" will be held at the Blue House Gallery, Schull, 6-8pm, showcasing her wonderful and exuberantly colourful work as a painter.

All are welcome to these two events.

We are devastated to announce that our friend, Alyn Fenn, the backbone of PlayActing Theatre projects, passed away peacefully on 9th January, following a short illness. As a talented artist and writer, community development contributor, administrator, advisor, and, especially for her beloved family, there was no truer, steadfast, straight-talking or loving friend. Not to mention a mischievous sense of humour and a burning desire to explore every kind of creativity!

We are sharing one of her poems here for you, "God She Hates a Mess"... See if you can read it without hearing her strong, beautiful voice.
