I hope that you are well and enjoying the never ending new Irish summer.
I am just passing on some info that might be useful to have at hand or pass on as, the new school year approaches and a time of transitions, I am in the process of accepting new and returning clients to whom may need extra support from September - at my weekend Private practice , located in Wilton , Cork .
This professional therapeutic service primarily supports children and teenagers.
Allied to other mental health professions, Art psychotherapy has been an academic discipline since the 1940's. Art psychotherapy is a highly specialized form of therapy, with elements of fun, and play that adds a powerful conduit, medium and language for young people to work through thoughts, emotions and feelings.
There is absolutely no need to be good at art or drawing.
These sessions are a mixture of creative and talk therapy facilitated by Senior art psychotherapist who holds a master's degree and is a first-class honours recipient from the MTU. (2019). A professional registered accredited art psychotherapist is one who has trained to a master's degree level (level 9) that integrates the theory and practice of psychology, psychotherapy, and psychiatry as a therapeutic intervention through the lens of creativity.
Patrick Byrne Senior Art Psychotherapist is also a neurodiversity affirming practitioner which provides therapeutic support for young people on the autistic spectrum. Patrick is also registered for over 30 years on the neurodevelopmental spectrum which in turn can be extremely empowering for young clients in working with someone who really understands how to embrace, navigate and support oneself. I also specialize in working with members of the LGBTQI+++ community.
Patricks professional therapeutic service works with a host of presenting concerns such as among others;
Anxiety, anger, bullying , coping with change , stress, overthinking, friendships, school dynamics, relationships, spectrum supports - to help and enabling to build confidence, coping skills, self- regulation and emotional intelligence.
