Hi, anyone got ideas for a non-plastic based glue that could be used on seashells and can be returned to the natural environment (rather than landfill) at the end of life of the artwork? And ideally can sit outside for a few months!

Ps anything with hot glue, resin type glue, super glue, PVA etc - will produce micro plastics and the piece needs to go to landfill when people tire of it.

Batik has been a very happy place for me, on and off, for 30 years and the smell of molten wax takes me back to memories of old friends and faraway places. Isn't that the thing with our sense of smell- it's wired straight to the emotional part of the brain.

I am just keeping things simple and working on lots of small pieces at the same time for some practice.

Almost on my doorstep and yet my first time inside - the folly is accessible now thanks to the new . And though it's only on a slight rise, the views are spectacular. Good to get a different perspective of what you see everyday.

A piece that I had in a group exhibition called Mend in 2022, photographed with the wonderful Pamela Hardesty, our course tutor on the Art Textile course at .

I "mended" a piece of discarded fishing net with naturally dyed, natural fibre with extra large netting holes for the bigger fish of the future that might grow in a restored marine ecosystem. I do love open weaves where you can see the space enclosed between the lines of weaving/netting.

I appreciate this popping up in my Google photos - it looks better than I remembered it or than it looks now stored in a shoe box!

Happy World Wetlands Day! Rather like the pregnant ewe of Imbolc, this pond is waiting for new life. I am checking for frogspawn daily, it can't be long! 🐸

Doesn't the literal translation of Imbolc, the time of year we are in, capture it perfectly? Not a time of new birth and Spring yet, but the signs are there. Instead a time for nurturing the new life held within the womb. The flurry of outward activity will come soon but now it is still a quiet and protective time for internal growth.

Planning some hedgerow management and trying to choose between coppicing and hedge laying?

This is a young hedge, we planted about 25 years and then about 7-8 years ago, we coppiced a section and laid another to bring the height down.

I love the strong lines of the stretched boughs in winter and the dense cover in summer of the laid hedge. But I have to admit that the birds are not as fond of the hedge as I had hoped. They much prefer the unkempt, gappy, old hedgerow trees. So, if your hedgerow blossoms in Spring, is laden with berries in autumn and is already alive with birdsong, it may be best to just leave it be.

Good memories - 2014 and a delivery of banners and hats for the Limerick's Buzzing project. Bees weren't "trending" and concepts like pollination and even the existence of wild bees were unfamiliar to people. How far we have come in public knowledge though unfortunately the wild bees are still in a bad way.
(And I can't believe that we wore the hats to Aras an Uachtarain!)
