It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Michael Hennessy.
Michael's first play with the Guild was as an āirregularā in the play "Juno and the Paycock" in 1994. He then appeared in the plays "On the Outside" and "On the inside" playing two parts. He gave excellent performances as the bouncer and Mr. Collins. Michael had a wonderful sense of humour and his own particular style. He joined the committee in 1997 and would go on to become president of the Guild. His talents as an actor shone when he played the part of Fr. Kimberley in the Chastitute in 1997.
One of his own favourite memories was his portrayal of Det.Sg. Troughton in "Run for Your Wife". A play that recieved standing ovations every night.
He played the lead role in Brendan Longās play "Double Trouble" a part he was very proud of. He appeared in many wonderful productions including, "Brothers of the Brush", "Philadelphia Here I Come", "Lovers", "Big Maggie ", "Moll", and more recently in the Guildās 50th Anniversary production of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" as Dr. Spivey in one of his last parts with the Guild. Our condolences to his wife Breeda and the Hennessy family. I'm sure when we all think back of the wonderful times we spent with Michael it will give us comfort and help his family in the difficult days ahead. May he rest in peace.
