Voices of Spring Community Choir

Voices of Spring Community Choir Voices of Spring is a community choir with a special welcome for those living with dementia.

Voices of Spring is an inclusive community choir for older people, with a special welcome for those living with dementia and their carers. They rehearse every Wednesday at 11am in the Youth Café at The Mill Community Centre in Celbridge. Following on from the success of Past Times Community Choir in Naas, it was decided that opportunities for meaningful musical participation should be made accessi

ble to a wider audience across the county. The choir provides a safe, supportive and engaging environment for all and aims to create an opportunity for members to experience the proven benefits of group singing. The greater aim is for both of these choirs to become part of the cultural tapestry of Kildare, showcasing the value of an authentic and truly inclusive musical project. The choir is was setup with funding from Kildare's Age Friendly Alliance and is supported on an ongoing basis by Kildare County Councils Arts Office as part of their Arts and Health initiative.

📣 Happy from all at Voices of Spring!

✨ National Singing Week is a Sing Ireland initiative shining a spotlight on the pure joy and shared humanity of group singing.

💝 Here's a little ditty called 'Play a Simple Melody', written by Irving Berlin and made famous by Bing Crosby. We hope you enjoy our rendition!

We are delighted to be featured in this piece on choir singing and wellbeing in today's Irish Independent Weekend Magazine!

We recently had a workshop with the wonderful Norah Walsh during which we explored the impact singing together has on our lives. Our discussion, alongside contributions from a handful of other choirs around Ireland, will be captured in a choral piece Norah was commissioned to compose by First Fortnight.

Irish Independent subscribers can read the article online: https://www.independent.ie/life/its-therapeutic-i-come-away-with-a-pep-in-my-step-the-unique-power-of-singing-in-a-choir/a987862705.html

And tickets for the premier of the piece in St Patrick's Cathedral are available here: https://www.firstfortnight.ie/festival/the-art-of-mental-health/
