The Cloak on the Moat Committee is delighted to introduce the stellar line-up of performers who will take to the bandstand on Bank Holiday Monday from noon. This year’s programme showcases the breadth of talent across South Kildare, and we are looking forward to a wonderful afternoon of song, dance and history.
1. Molly Doyle trained in musical theatre at the Cork School of Music and is currently a music teacher with Carlow College of Music. She is proudly representing the Clanard Court in this year’s Kildare Rose.
2. Joseph Gorman has been involved with Cloak on the Moat since its inception in 2023. He recently released his debut Irish folk album, The Modern Irish Ballad, and also runs a local music school, Rural Rhythm.
3. Village Voices is an inclusive community choir formed in Narraghmore, Co. Kildare, in 2022. Meeting weekly, the choir brings passion and enthusiasm to local events including St Brigid 1500, St Patrick’s Day services, Darkness Into Light, Punchestown, and visits to St Vincent’s Hospital, using song to bring the community together.
4. Renowned tenor Paul Linehan is often seen leading the Baldonnel Singers. He recently completed a project composing music inspired by South Kildare, including a much-admired song about the Moat of Ardscull.
5. Aaron O’Rourke, a music graduate of SETU and former member of Beautiful Noise Choir and Cookstown Singers and Strummers, is a composer and musician whose influences span classical, folk and alternative genres.
6: Colm Flynn, Colm, a local historian and storyteller will regale us with tales of old, of Brigid and Education.
7,8,9: Finally, we are delighted to welcome Athy Comhaltas and Kilmead Figure Dancers and Set Dancers who will bring and dance traditional music to Cloak on the Moat 2026 with a lively selection of tunes. You might event join us for a set dance!
We're looking forward to seeing you there.
