Music Generation Carlow is a new music education service for County Carlow. It is part of Music Generation Ireland – a national music education programme developed by Music Network and funded by multi-million euro donations from U2 and The Ireland Funds. Go Music! Over the next three years and based on reaching local funding targets, Carlow MEP’s Go Music! programme will, with the support of Music Generation, bring over €1.1million of music performance education activities and events for 0-18 years olds throughout the county. programme was developed by local musicians and music teachers, with foundation local funding commitment from County Carlow VEC and Carlow Local Authorities, and development support from many other local agencies. The programme is managed locally by Co. Carlow Music Education Partnership (MEP). This interagency group includes, Co Carlow V.E.C and Carlow County Council Arts Office. Carlow MEP will, through the implementation of a progressive music education programme called Go Music! in partnership with schools and community organisations, progressively provide new opportunities as well as supporting the development and expansion of existing groups. will develop as a regional network throughout Carlow providing music education, teacher curriculum development, fundraising, and performance opportunities. Ultimately Carlow MEP plans to develop Go Music! by implementing its own Curriculum Repertoire resource programme which will ensure artistic integrity and direction. This will inspire and enable children and young people from all backgrounds and regions of County Carlow to learn to play musical instruments, sing, make music with others and have opportunities to progress to the next level of excellence. This will include establishing performance opportunities locally, regionally and nationally.
