This amazing project brings matched funding from Music Generation direct to Carlow, doubling the value of every euro raised here for Carlow MEP’s

Go Music! Over the next three years and based on reaching local funding targets, Carlow MEP’s Go Music! programme will, with the support of Music Generation, bring over €1.1million of music performance education activities and events for 0-18 years olds throughout the county. programme was developed by local musicians and music teachers, with foundation local funding commitment from County Carlow VEC and Carlow Local Authorities, and development support from many other local agencies. The programme is managed locally by Co. Carlow Music Education Partnership (MEP). This interagency group includes, Co Carlow V.E.C and Carlow County Council Arts Office. Carlow MEP will, through the implementation of a progressive music education programme called Go Music! in partnership with schools and community organisations, progressively provide new opportunities as well as supporting the development and expansion of existing groups. will develop as a regional network throughout Carlow providing music education, teacher curriculum development, fundraising, and performance opportunities. Ultimately Carlow MEP plans to develop Go Music! by implementing its own Curriculum Repertoire resource programme which will ensure artistic integrity and direction. This will inspire and enable children and young people from all backgrounds and regions of County Carlow to learn to play musical instruments, sing, make music with others and have opportunities to progress to the next level of excellence. This will include establishing performance opportunities locally, regionally and nationally.

We’re looking forward to another exciting week as part of MGC’s Exhibition Programme.

This Saturday, we are delighted to welcome Reel-Nua, MGC Senior Trad Ensembe, who will perform as part of our ongoing series of live performances.

We had two amazing school performances last week and we'd like to extend a huge thank you to:

Carlow National School and their tutor Ann Brolly
Rathoe National School and their tutor Maryann Hickey

Please also take a moment to enjoy and share this amazing video of our Band Development young musicians- who work with Aaron Thompson and Paul Horahan weekly. They performed to a packed house in the library on Tuesday evening, with a wonderful audience creating a fantastic atmosphere.
