Busy morning! Making flower corsages for all handmade and gift boxed ready to go! Visit the shop for lovely original gift ideas where your are assured of a friendly and personal service.
Wet day work! Making new corsages today and with Halloween on the horizon I’ve taken out the lacy/ cobweb like fabrics in gold and black combinations. Now to find suitable beads and buttons for decoration.
A little look at what I’m working on at the moment! A small series titled “Mystical Ireland” featuring ancient ruins of castles, abbeys and fortresses dotted throughout our landscape and coastline. Realized in wool and silk fibers these pieces will soon be available on my new website which is currently under construction. So I haven’t posted anything for a while but I’m working away in the background making some new textile art pieces. Landscapes of Ireland in wool and silk fibers, all held together by manipulation with a barbed needle ... a technique called needle felting. That’s what I do!😊 keep an eye out for new work coming soon!

August already and just thinking back on Summer trips along the wild Atlantic way, I thought I’d show you this textile art piece which I made inspired by that area. I used merino wool and silk fibers needle felted together on a wool backing to capture the Irish coastline. Each one is unique and handmade.

Just arrived today! My first in a series of greeting cards featuring scenes from some of my original textile art. These cards are blank inside for your own personal message. Meeting my suppliers! The deal is ... you give us biscuits we’ll give you wool 😁! I had the pleasure of visiting last week to meet these guys and I came away with some authentic sheep’s wool which I’m looking forward to using in my needle felted landscapes.

With starting today I felt inspired to get making some fabric flower corsages in vibrant summer colors!😎 all handmade using an assortment of fabrics and trims and embellished with vintage beads and buttons. Each one is unique, lightweight and can be shipped anywhere. An individual accessory for your special occasion outfit/hat.

Today’s work in progress! A different design of textile brooch where I’ve decided to start using the accumulation of little bits of fabric and yarn I’m ending up with .... you know that feeling when they’re just too pretty to throw away! The original hoarder, that’s me!!😁 🌸

A little selection of fabric flower corsages which I’ve been working on this week. I make them with an assortment of fabrics such as chiffon, organza and lace to mention a few. I usually embellish them with beads or vintage buttons, whichever looks best when the flower is made. They make a lovely accessory to any outfit for special occasions, they’re feather light, can be posted anywhere and I’m happy to help with any special color requests.
Today’s pallet! Working on finishing an order of fabric flowers for . I’m using a selection of chiffon, lace and organza and I will embellish them with beads to finish off. They make a lovely lightweight summer accessory.
Inspiration to creation! Last year’s skeletal blooms on the hydrangeas have been my color director for some new organza corsages. I love the delicacy of the muted creams and golds together and I hope you like them also. Some of these will be on my website and some will be for to whom I am grateful for an order. Starting on the blue collection tomorrow!
Many sore fingers later I just thought I’d share with you some important do’s and dont’s when needle felting! I’ve learned my lesson!! I bet there are more of you in the world of textile work who can identify with this?!😊

When I’m working on a piece of textile art I lay the mount on it as it progresses, this helps keep things in perspective and I can visualize the final image. A bit to do here yet!! I have the scene in my head though so I’ll keep going!😁 🍀
