The veil is beginning to thin...

Samhain Chiarraí returns to Kerry from 15th October – 1st November 2026, bringing over two weeks of fire, folklore, storytelling, music, street spectacle, family fun and unforgettable experiences across the county.

This autumn, step into the world of An Cailleach Chiarraí – the ancient Goddess of Winter whose legend has shaped Kerry for generations. From breathtaking fire rituals and spectacular street performances to immersive workshops, traditional music, food festivals and magical moments for all ages, Samhain Chiarraí is back to celebrate the turning of the Celtic year like nowhere else.

This year’s festival will once again transform communities across Kerry, with signature Cailleach Chiarraí events taking place in Killarney (23–25 October) before moving to Tralee (30 October–1 November), alongside an incredible programme of events throughout the county.

This is Halloween as it was meant to be experienced.
This is Ireland’s Home of Halloween.
This is Samhain Chiarraí.

This week, Kerry County Council, representing Samhain Chiarraí, attended the All Ireland launch of Home of Halloween 2026 with Fáilte Ireland at the iconic Hill of Uisneach – the ancient ceremonial heart of Ireland.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Peter Burke TD highlighted the important role that Ireland's unique culture and heritage plays in extending the tourism season and delivering real benefits for communities and businesses across the island. Alice Mansergh, CEO of Tourism Ireland, reinforced Ireland's position as the authentic birthplace of Halloween and outlined Tourism Ireland's international campaign to inspire visitors from around the world to experience Halloween where it all began.

As one of the 8 Home of Halloween destinations, Samhain Chiarraí will once again bring our rich traditions to life through fire, folklore, storytelling, harvest celebrations and spectacular family-friendly events across the County from 15th October – 1st November.

Last year, across Ireland the Home of Halloween initiative delivered more than 830 events, welcomed over 322,000 visitors and generated €43 million in economic impact, supporting communities and tourism businesses.

As the Wheel of the Year turns once more, we welcome the arrival of Bealtaine — a vibrant celebration of fire, growth and new beginnings. ✨

Falling at the midpoint between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice, Bealtaine marks the start of the bright half of the Celtic year — a time when life bursts into full bloom and the days grow longer and warmer.

Across Kerry, a range of wonderful Bealtaine events and gatherings are taking place — celebrating creativity, nature and community spirit in all its forms. Biddys Day Feile Na Bealtaine Di**le Druid/ Juli Ni Mhaoileoin / Juli Malone 🌿✨

As the Wheel of the Year turns, we now step into the season of Imbolc – a time of renewal, hope, and the first stirrings of spring. 🌷
Marking the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, a moment to honour St. Brigid (Lá Fhéile Bríde), goddess of spring, fire, creativity and healing.

A number of wonderful events and festivals took place across Kerry – from the beautiful Biddy’s Day Festival parade in Killorglin to Éigse na Brídeoige in Waterville, which proudly welcomed Uachtarán na hÉireann / President of Ireland Catherine Connolly.

Imbolc reminds us that brighter days are on the horizon, as nature begins its gentle awakening from winter’s slumber. ⛅️
