One ancient kingdom helped shape the Europe we know today.
The Frankish Kingdom rose after the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

It controlled territories that now belong to France and Germany.

Its most famous ruler was Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great.

Under his leadership, the kingdom became one of Europe’s strongest powers.

In 800 AD, Charlemagne was crowned Emperor by the Pope.

He promoted education, law, and Christianity throughout Europe.

Many historians call him the “Father of Europe.”

After his death, the kingdom split apart into different regions.

Those regions eventually became modern European nations.

The Roman Empire began as a small city in Italy around 753 BC.

Over time, it grew into one of the greatest empires in human history.

The Romans built massive roads, aqueducts, arenas, and one of the strongest military forces the world had ever seen.

At its peak, the empire stretched from Britain to the Middle East.

The Colosseum became a symbol of Roman entertainment, where gladiators fought before huge crowds.

But behind the glory, corruption, political chaos, economic problems, and barbarian invasions slowly weakened the empire.

In 476 AD, the Western Roman Empire officially fell.

Yet even today, Roman influence still exists in law, language, architecture, and government systems around the world.

Even the most powerful empire in history could not last forever.
