Introducing Artist on Artist, a new series by ara contemporary bringing artists into conversation with the practices and works of their peers.

For its first edition, artist and Papermoon Puppet Theatre co-artistic director Iwan Effendi visits Enggar Rhomadioni’s solo exhibition ‘Pāṭha’, reflecting on the quiet yet undefined spaces within his works and their potential for stories to unfold.

ara contemporary is pleased to share the installation views at PAVILION Seoul, presenting works by Alisa Chunchue and Irfan Hendrian.

Through distinct material approaches, both artists consider how physical and psychological experiences leave their traces. Chunchue’s ‘I Remember How It Felt’ examines bodily vulnerability and sustained harm through stainless steel and glass, while Hendrian’s ‘Chinatown Window Sample’ draws on the trellis as an ‘architecture of fear’, reflecting layers of political trauma experienced by the Chinese-Indonesian community.

Together, the works trace how vulnerability, memory, and trauma become embedded across the body, material, and built environment.

ara contemporary is pleased to join the inaugural edition of PAVILION Seoul, presenting new works by Alisa Chunchue and Irfan Hendrian.

Bringing together two distinct material practices, both artists explore the physicality and psychological dimensions of the human beings through materials including steel, glass, and paper. Chunchue investigates the body and its inner states through sculpture, installation, and drawing, while Hendrian pushes the formal and sculptural possibilities of paper, transforming the material into both pigment and canvas.

We look forward to seeing you in Seoul.

ara contemporary is pleased to share installation views of ‘Trinket Philosophy’, a group exhibition curated by Pearamon Tulavardhana.

‘Trinket Philosophy’ is an invitation to explore the tiny things that matter - small objects, moments, and thoughts that hold stories and cherished memories, expanding into their own lore. From the small lives sustaining the ecosystem in Kanokwan Sutthang’s paintings, to MM Kosum’s memory-laden objects, Tuna Dunn’s connected moments captured within a split second, and Miranda Mazuki’s treasured keepsakes, each artist offers a glimpse into the microcosm of knick-knacks - where every bauble and bead becomes a world of its own.

ara contemporary is pleased to share installation views of ‘Pāṭha’, a solo exhibition by Enggar Rhomadioni, with exhibition text by Putu Sridiniari.

At the centre of Rhomadioni’s inquiry is ‘Pustaka Wanita’ - an archive of feminine curiosity. Across the exhibition, forms culturally coded as feminine are rendered with precision, deformed into abstraction, and placed within surreal landscapes. Rhomadioni positions himself as a reader rather than a conqueror, approaching the feminine with curiosity rather than mastery.
