Hace alrededor de tres años que hice este retrato de Juan Carlos I, rey emérito de España.
Mi intención era crear una conversación acerca de la existencia de la realeza en un sistema democrático.
Mi ejercicio como artista, en este caso, terminó cuando la arcilla se transformó en cerámica, pero continúo invitando a la gente a conversar acerca de la temática y participar en la interacción con la pieza. Es entonces cuando la obra transciende y, en mi opinión, el arte florece. Es así como mi investigación continúa, conversando y conociendo gente nueva y sus opiniones acerca del tema.
Por este motivo construí un pedestal desmontable y me fui a la calle, a un área concurrida pero sin llegar a entorpecer a los vía andantes, donde instalé la escultura.

Mi opinión acerca de la convivencia entre monarquía y democracia es evidente en este retrato, donde la parte posterior es un retrete, cubierto de agujeros donde la gente podía escribir sus opiniones en un trozo de papel para quemarlo. La intención de este acto, además del placer y espiritualidad en la acción de destruir con fuego, es que el humo de la combustión dejase una marca en la cerámica.

Tres años más tarde, sigo pensando que la realeza en un sistema democrático es pura hipocresía y no tiene cabida, y más aún con los acontecimientos recientes donde artistas están siendo imputados y encarcelados por dar su opinión acerca del tema. Más aún cuando estamos empezando a ver más claramente, por si a aún seguíamos mirando para otro lado, la cantidad de corrupción, robos y mi**da que tienen escondida debajo de sus reales alfombras.
Hoy por hoy y más que nunca me sigo cagando en el rey, el pasado, el presente y el que pueda venir después.
Sea en el país que sea, democracia y realeza no deberían convivir, es una contradicción.

Brexit is happening and has become a very graphic example of how confused and divided is society, how unclear and confusing policies and, how they are shared and presented to the people.

This sculpture aims to represent this politico-cultural situation. Is made of plaster and handmade painted, making several copies with the intention of placing them around the streets aiming to open a dialogue about democracy. The presented figure shows a middle-aged, white man with donkey’s ears and surprised expression, looking to its right side, where a Brittish flag with the inscription: “Brexs**t” appears on it. His arms represent the political parties; the left arm is weak and fragile, just the bone, without muscles and seems useless. The right arm isn’t present, like a ghost, we all denied its existence but is present there standing and leading and when we feel its presence we show disagreement and discomfort. A democratic system that doesn’t work in the same way to every member of society is doomed to fail. For this reason why the figure has defecated on himself, closing the circle with the flag and giving the title to this piece, trying to make a wake-up call for the people.

After a month in the street this little dudes still stands, only a bit paler than before due the weather conditions.
