MEET OUR LIGHTING DESIGNER | Athziri Morales

Athziri Morales holds a BFA in Lighting Design from the University of Texas at El Paso. Athziri has designed for dance shows and festivals such as World Dance Alliance Americas, and the Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival in San Antonio. She has worked as a production intern at the 2019 Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival, working alongside companies such as the Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Compañía Irene Rodríguez. Athziri has also designed for theatrical productions such as Bless Me, Ultima, Saturday Night Fever, and Miss You Like Hell. Currently, Athziri is working as the Artistic Director for MOON Collective, an artistic collective founded in 2018 that strives to create innovative projects that challenge perspectives.

MEET THE CHOREOGRAPHERS | Claire Goldes

Claire Louise Goldes is an NYC-based performing artist and choreographer. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine with BFAs in Dance Choreography and Performance and a BA in Psychological Science. While at UCI, Claire was named a Donald McKayle fellow and was recognized university-wide for excellence in research and choreography. She travelled internationally to Israel with Chad Michael Hall’s Summer Dance Jerusalem and to Rome with Lisa Naugle’s DTM2 Improvisation Ensemble. Her work was also featured in the East Meets International Music and Dance Festival at the Irvine Barclay Theater. After graduation, Claire moved to NYC , joined LimónPro, and began working as a Pilates instructor. In 2022, she was a member of the inaugural GibneyPRO cohort, under the direction of Alexandra Wells and Gilbert T Small II. She has since been performing around NYC as a freelance artist, and is so excited to return home for the debut SCOPIX showcase.

MEET THE DIRECTORS | João Ducci

João Ducci is a dancer, choreographer, and Pilates instructor in Southern California. Born in Brazil and growing up in Los Angeles, he began his dance training at 18 at Santa Monica College. He also trained at Yuri Grigoriev School of Ballet on full scholarship and earned his double BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of California, Irvine. João is in his second season as a company member with Backhausdance and has worked as a freelance dancer with Ballet Project OC, C. Eule Dance, and Fuse Dance Company. Currently teaching at Pilates on Main - Orange County, João was certified by Diane Diefenderfer – Studio du Corps and has served as Diane's assistant for her Teacher Training Program since 2020. João will return to his Alma Mater this fall to pursue his MFA in Dance.

MEET THE DIRECTORS | Emma Andres

Emma Andres is a dancer, choreographer, photographer, and studio artist based in Southern California. She graduated from UC Irvine in 2020 with a BFA in Dance Choreography and a minor in Literary Journalism. Emma is the Studio Manager and Resident Choreographer for Pasadena Civic Ballet. She has been working with Pasadena Civic Ballet for the past 5 years and is currently in the process of becoming a Ballet Teaching Artist for the Music Center in Los Angeles. Emma is currently developing a ballet centering around the book Little Women. The project is site specific and will be performed throughout Los Angeles County. These projects are meant to come together later on as a full-length ballet. This project will be a loving tribute to Louisa May Alcott and will pioneer a move towards more ballets that center on women and their stories.
