We are honoured to welcome Modul aka Mango to the Hotelsinus Records roster. His presence further strengthens our label.
He has been an active electronic musician since 1995. From1996 to 2005 he hosted various radio programmes on Tilos Radio, a key player in the cultural and lifestyle scene of Budapest.
Since 1997 he’s been playing jazz (Budbudas, Skeg, Skoda) and worldmusic (Anima Sound System, Beshodrom) bands as turntablist.
He started producing his own tunes in 1998. The same year he started weekly open mic jam sessions where he met the future members of his band, the GIMMESHOT CREW. For the next ten years this band had a major influence on Hungarian hip hop and dancehall live movement, combining live acts, turntables, MCs and classic instruments.
In 2003 he released the debut LP of GIMMESHOT’s singer Sena (Sena - the first one), and toured with the live band Dzihan & Kamien as a turntablist. Also in 2002 He finished third and in the following year second best of the Hungarian DMC Championship.
Besides all that, he’s been playing percussion instruments in a live jazz-lounge group with a pianist and a double bass player. In recent years he has been busy producing the firs volume of Hungarian HipHop History, and also formed an electro live-act duo with Sematic4 called microbeat, with which he toured major festivals.
He also DJ’s solo with his turntable and MPC,creating beats real-time.
