We are Haïti Ma Chérie, which means "Haiti My Love", and we are an international social enterprise focused on exposing Haitian art and culture in the outside world, with a mission to give back to and improve the nation of Haiti. Our adventure began in May 2016, where after months of planning, our team traveled to Haiti to meet and interact with artists across several regions of
the nation. Our goal for this expedition was simple: befriending and engaging the artists, to learn what the greatest struggles they faced were, and what they could change in the country if they had the power to. After that had been accomplished, we sought to explore the collection of paintings they had amassed or created themselves, searching for pieces that would adequately and accurately reflect true Haitian culture. What we found was more than we could have ever hoped for. We found Haitian essence and soul in every painting, elements of Haitian life and society that you will never find on a television network or a charity’s pamphlet. We discovered real pride and joy in the hearts of Haitians that was so clearly and passionately expressed among the different works of art we had the pleasure of viewing and selecting. Experiencing this raw authenticity only reinforced our commitment to sharing Haiti’s splendor, and ignited a fire within us to show the world the other side of Haiti.
