Forever Rara Fanm was founded in 2013 by James Sidney and Jennifer Frank as an all-female Rara band. Its members were born and raised in Rue des Cesars, Bel Air, one of the most challenging neighbourhood of Port-au-Prince, where they still live. Rara is a traditional musical style and festival that has been practiced in Haiti since the slavery period and reshaped from the revolutionary times up un

til now. Rara serves three main functions: as a spiritual work for the ancestors, as a political parade commenting on local and international issues, and as a form and entertainment for the community. Traditionally the domain of men, Forever Rara Fanm takes all of the roles for the women, adding their own charm and power. Their scope is to entertain, and offer to international audiences a unique experience through music performance.
