🏰 **BLACKNESS CASTLE – THE “STONE SHIP” ON THE SHORES OF THE FORTH 🇸🇨**

Some castles were built to be palaces... but **Blackness Castle** resembles a colossal stone warship anchored off the Scottish coast. 🌊🖤

Situated on the banks of the **Firth of Forth**, the castle was built in the 15th century and served as a vital fortress protecting the Edinburgh area. Its thick stone walls, massive towers, and position facing the open sea give Blackness an incredibly imposing and austere appearance.

Notably, the castle's shape evokes the image of **a stone ship with its bow pointing toward the water**—earning it the nickname **“The Ship That Never Sailed.”** ⛵🏰

But Blackness is more than just beautiful...

It has served as a **fortress, a prison, and a royal residence**, bearing witness to turbulent chapters of Scottish history. Its dark stone corridors, spiral staircases, and chilly chambers still evoke an era defined by power, warfare, and royal intrigue.

🌫️ On cloudy days, as the wind from the Firth of Forth sweeps across the ancient walls, Blackness Castle emerges like a fortress straight out of legend.

**A castle that doesn't merely stand by the sea... but seems to stand guard over a piece of Scotland's history.** 🖤🏰
