【The Fourth “Call for Photos” Results】
A big thank you to all who participated in this event and congratulations to the prize winners! We will contact all the winners via Facebook messenger to arrange their collection of the prizes. With the New Year just around the corner, “Blossoming Stairs” project is about to come to an end. The decorations of the stairs will be dismounted in January, so don’t forget to take a picture with them if you haven’t!
Thank you once again for all your support! We wish you all a happy new year!

與他那些逸筆草草的江南風景畫相比，吳冠中這張《拋了年華》彌漫著一種哀傷的氛圍。這實際上與他文革時的艱苦經歷息息相關，他日後甚至曾自言：「我曾以為冰凍的荷屍正是自己的寫照呢！」
文革期間，飽經摧折的畫家在北海公園看見冰下的殘荷，難掩內心的悲慟，只想到要把荷屍畫下來。惟當時局勢緊張，在親友力勸下他方擱置這個創作念頭。直至1990年代，他終究用油畫重現埋藏心底多年的殘荷畫意；及至2009年，再轉化成這幅水墨《拋了年華》。橫幅線點交錯，底部蜿蜒的灰色線條表現了荷塘，上面粗黑線條與濃淡渲染的墨塊則呈現了池中殘荷折枝。以上表現的，不只荷花生命與氣節，而是一種「寧折毋屈」的風骨。
在遊人如鯽的尖沙嘴海旁，眼前一片繁華景象，我們又會否錯過吳冠中在殘荷中傾注的情感？

Unlike his sketchy landscape paintings of Jiangnan, Wu Guanzhung’s “Leaving Youth Behind” alludes to an air of sadness, owing much to the hardships he endured during the Cultural Revolution. The artist himself once said, “I used to think that dead lotuses were a portrait of myself!”
Amid the Revolution, Wu was driven by sorrow to paint the dead lotuses he happened to see under a frozen lake in Beihai Park, Beijing. However, in the era of political turmoil, he shelved his plan after his friends and relatives objected doggedly to the idea of the painting. By the 1990s, he finally realized all the ideas and visions he had of dead lotuses through oil paintings; in 2009, he conceived this ink wash painting “Leaving Youth Behind”. On a horizontal scroll, lines and spots cross paths with one another. Meandering grey lines at the bottom symbolize the lotus pond while above them, bold, black strokes and ink-blot washes of different weights portray dead lotuses and their broken branches. The painting does not only exemplify the life and spirit of lotus blossoms, but also embodies Wu’s personal doctrine that it is better to break — than to bend.

【藝術嘉年華倒數兩日】
喺今個星期六嘅藝術嘉年華，歌舞表演會係一大亮點。當日除咗有著名鋼琴家Colleen Lee演奏古典音樂外，我哋亦好榮幸邀請到著名音樂創作人馮穎琪小姐（Vicky Fung）為嘉年華擔任表演嘉賓。喺當日下午一時，Vicky將會現身會場，聯同ADA展能藝術天使李軒獻唱由佢創作嘅兩首流行曲，大家唔好錯過啊！

本地著名鋼琴家李嘉齡小姐（Colleen）將會為我地嚟緊嘅藝術嘉年華擔任表演嘉賓！當日Colleen除左會表演鋼琴獨奏之外，更會與ADA青葉藝術家鄧卓謙聯奏，將優美嘅古典樂章帶俾大家。宜家就等我地率先睇下佢地綵排嘅情況先啦！
We are delighted to have Ms Colleen Lee, a renowned local pianist join us on the coming Arts Fun Day! She is going to play a piano solo and classical music ensembles with ADA Green Leaf Artist Tang Cheuk-him. Let’s have a sneak preview of the rehearsal!

話咁快下星期六(12月16日)就喺最後一場冬季藝術嘉年華喇！今次我地除咗設有免費藝術工作坊，邀請藝術家帶領大家創作自己嘅藝術品之外，仲安排咗好多精彩表演，包括古典音樂四手聯彈、流行曲歌唱表演同輪椅舞等，當然更加唔少得特別為嘉年華而編嘅《花雨舞》啦。今次嘉年華將會喺下星期六於尖沙咀文化中心露天廣場舉行，到時見啦！

The Arts Fun Day on 16 Dec (Sat) will be the final episode of coinciding programmes for the “Blossoming Stairs”! A vast array of performances involving classical music, pop songs and wheelchair dancing will be presented. Also, there will be a series of artist workshops of which participants can create their own artworks under professional guidance. You won’t want to miss this! See you next Saturday at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza!
