How Do Parsons Students Use Edge Paint? With Imagination.

At Parsons School of Design’s mid-term review, fashion designer Sean Choe joined the session to evaluate students’ works.

He noticed that D&A Edge Polymer was being used in far more ways than simple edge finishing. Some students treated it as a platform for tattoo-like motif patterns, turning the surface into graphic storytelling. Others used it to highlight and define intricate details. And several approached it as a texture tool—creating rustic, rugged, or weathered effects that gave their pieces a distinct character.

“it was amazing to see some of the potential opportunities and potential that these students have,” Sean said.

For Sean, edge paint isn’t just an accessory or a finishing step. Once students bring imagination into the process, it becomes full of possibilities—and he’s excited to see what they produce by the end of the semester.

Same Edge Paint. Infinite Creative Possibilities.

At Parsons School of Design’s mid-term review, Nova presented her collection of works to professors and classmates.

She worked with D&A Edge Polymer products, but she didn’t treat it as just a finishing or edge-coating step. Instead, she elevated the edge paint into the main creative medium. By layering color and refining the surface through careful sanding to enhance the finish, the edge paint became the hero of her designs.

Nova also pushed the concept beyond leather. She extended the use of the edge paint to metal surfaces, applying it onto an eye-shaped form—transforming the object into part of a cohesive artistic expression.

With D&A Edge Polymer providing a stable foundation for the process, Nova’s creativity determined exactly how far the material could go.

“I truly enjoy the process of creating with D&A Edge Polymer.”

For Nova, D&A Edge Polymer is more than a material—it’s a carrier of inspiration. With industry-grade materials available in the classroom, students finally get the chance to turn their ideas into real outcomes.

There are no perfect materials — creativity is what truly matters.

During Parsons School of Design’s mid-term review, Sophia Rocco’s work immediately drew attention.

Rather than using brand-new leather or carefully sourcing expensive materials, she took a different approach. She created templates and patterns using wax and white glue, then brought the design to life with Lorence Aqua Stain Series Water-based Waxy Dyes, allowing the concept to emerge naturally on the material.

It’s not only smart—it’s genuinely imaginative. As she explains, using the dye helps reduce waste, which is a clever and practical idea.

Instead of starting from scratch, she worked with what was already available: leftover inventory materials, upcycled leather pieces, and garments that were disassembled and reassembled. With different origins, colors, and patterns, these fragments were transformed into a unified color tone—ultimately becoming a cohesive collection.

It’s not the material that defines the work. It’s the creativity behind it.

For designers, Aqua Stain Series Water-based Waxy Dyes is more than a staining solution. It helps break free from material limitations, so designers can focus on creativity itself. What once seemed like “incomplete” materials can now become infinite possibilities.

Learning in Action at Parsons | D&A Group's Products Helps Students Perfect Their Leather Works

New York, Parsons School of Design — During the semester, an important midterm review took place in the school’s studios. Students enrolled in Fashion Product and Fashion Product & Collection presented their leather creations—crafted over weeks of careful work—to their professors, sharing the design thinking behind each piece.

Leather pieces were laid out across the tables, and the full process showed through in every detail—from selecting materials and cutting, to applying edge paint and refining the surface finish. It was clear that students approached each step with care and professionalism.

Products from D&A Edge Paint and Lorence Become a Classroom Highlight
Students specifically mentioned D&A Edge Polymer and Lorence products. They explained that these inputs helped refine both the overall appearance and the feel of their work, while also elevating the quality and consistency of the final finishing. Just as importantly, they found that using the right product and applying the correct techniques supported their creative process—allowing them to focus more fully on the design concept itself.

The professors’ feedback aligned with these observations. They noted clear improvement in students’ ex*****on of fine details and finishing standards. As students became more confident with the appropriate materials and methods, their creative ideas translated more effectively into finished pieces. With the industry-grade inputs provided by D&A Group, the learning experience gained real momentum in the studio.

As these talented young designers bring their final pieces to life, what kind of visual impact will they deliver? Stay tuned.
