City University Philharmonic Orchestra (CityU PO) was founded in 2000, with the funding support from the Cultural & Sports Committe and the advice of Student Development Services of the University. In 2006, CityU PO had been honored to have Dr, Sir Gordon Wu Ying-sheung, GBS, KCMG, FICE to be the honorary patrons. The CityU PO aims to enhance the appreciation of classical music among the Universit
y members, to develop music talents of fellow students and to establish a close link among its members and music lovers. CityU PO organizes and participates in various internal and external music activities and performances every year, such as orientation concerts, annual concerts, joint performances. This year joint uniersities flash mob events have been also firstly organized. In future, the CityUPO will continue to strive for artistic excellence and promote classical music on campus as well as in the community.
香港城市大學管弦樂團於2000年10月正式成立，是香港城市大學學生發展處及文康委員會的學生，由一班熱衷於古典音樂演奏的城大學生自發組成。樂團的基本成員包括城大學生、教職員以及校友。樂團經費由城大文康委員會撥款資助。2006年，樂團更得到胡應湘爵士GBS, KCMG, FICE的慷慨贊助。在校方的大力支持和協助下，樂團得以在藝術和組織方面不斷發展。
樂團的主要宗旨為提高校園藝術交化氣息、推廣古典音樂文化；讓學生及教職員發展其樂器演奏之興趣；以及加強學生、教職員及校友之間的交流。
樂團在校內和校外組織參與各式各樣的活動，如迎新音樂會、週年音樂會、城大週年聯合匯演、校園弦樂四重奏及管樂五重奏。今年亦與其他大專院校共同舉辦聯校快閃音樂表演。
