🙏 Om Shanti 🙏

Amrit Manthan mourns the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai — author, scholar, philosopher, and one of India's greatest torchbearers of Chanakya's timeless wisdom.

Dr. Pillai holds a very special place in the heart of Amrit Manthan. He was the distinguished guest speaker at our very first introductory event here in Hong Kong — and what a way to begin. His lecture that evening set the tone for everything Amrit Manthan stands for: the meeting of ancient Indian knowledge with the questions of our modern times. He brought Chanakya's Arthashastra alive in the room, and left every person present inspired, enriched, and hungry to learn more.

It was a privilege and an honour to have him grace our inaugural platform. That evening will always remain one of our most treasured memories.

Dr. Pillai authored 24 books, most of them bestsellers, with Corporate Chanakya reaching readers and leaders across the world. He held a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Mumbai, was deeply associated with Chinmaya International Foundation, and spent his life making India's intellectual and spiritual heritage relevant to entrepreneurs, leaders, and seekers everywhere.

The light he brought to Amrit Manthan's very first gathering will never be forgotten.

Dr. Pillai — thank you for blessing our beginning. Rest in eternal wisdom. 🙏

Leadership Lessons In The Battlefield By Major General (Dr.) G. D. Bakshi SM, VSM @ Amrit Manthan (Sarjan Group), Hong Kong

01/07/2019

Amrit Manthan talk on 29th June, 2019. It was a full house . Here's the summary of the the fantastic talk, prepared by one of our guests -
Sharing some moments of the evening, the tough talking General recounted bone chilling, word for word, eyewitness accounts of not only the Kargil war, but also the 1971 war, which he had to head immediately upon graduating from the IMA in Nov'71 as a young man of 21. In the war if liberation after which Bangladesh was formed, in the very first week of battle he lost 25 of his batch mates who had graduated with him only days ago, who unfortunately earned their pension posthumously, even before they earned their first salary.

The first words he uttered entering the hall were a resounding "JAI HIND" and Bharat Mata ki....."

The audience responded with a patriotic roar in unison!! It was a very very touching moment.

Gen Bakshi started off by reminding everyone that India got her independence not from the Quit India Movement or from Non-violence, but by the "NRI's" mobilised by Netaji from those Indians living in Singapore, Malaya, Burma, HK and Indonesia and forging them into the INA in rising against the British and instilling in them the fear of an uprising in the army, which was the real reason why they suddenly packed up left India.

He recounted the difficulties faced by the Indian army to dislodge the intruders in Kargil and finally the winning strategy came from Col. Ravindranath, born in Shimoga and who recently passed away at the age of 58 in Bangalore, had thought out of the box to make it happen in an otherwise impossible high altitude (21,000 feet) recapture of the Indian positions.

A large number of the audience among elders were young children and college students and the patriotism the General stirred in them was something to see.

He didn't mince words while answering the eager questions from the audience, his responses were instantaneous, blunt, hard hitting and real.

The General's analogies of leadership on the battlefield and how they were applicable in today's corporate warfare were very realistic in which he emphasized grit, willpower, determination and discipline a route to success, where abstinence from fear was the important factor in any field, he stated this while borrowing a well known phrase from the movie Sholay - "Jo dara....so....."

He concluded his presentation with the saying "When the going gets Tough.... the Tough get Going" leaving behind a very satisfied audience at the end of it.

I have followed Gen Bakshi on television, YouTube and on WhatsApp forwards with keen interest.

Listening to him live from a front row seat and later speaking to him personally was indeed the highlight of the day!!

We need more men like him and PM Modi to turn India around.

...And here he comes!! Jai Hind! 🇮🇳🇮🇳
