RECAP | Summer Holiday: Hong Kong World Champs

Two days of sunshine and perfect sunsets. It was amazing to be back and to meet everyone again at Freespace 自由空間 in West Kowloon Cultural District 西九文化區 !

A special thank you for everyone that braved the heat, the organisers, and the DJs Arun R , I mredrollo I , Johnny Hiller, Lukas and SolarSoundSystem HK djs Aymeric Travis Jun Chuck for their stellar performances.

UP NEXT | Summer Holiday: Hong Kong World Champs at West Kowloon Cultural District 西九文化區 & Freespace 自由空間

It’s been more than a year since our last event and our team has been counting the days… We are excited to be back this weekend (10-11 July) with our solar booth at West Kowloon!

Organised by Freespace & West Kowloon Cultural District, the festival will combine both paid and free performances. Find us in the outside open area to enjoy some summer tunes and solar beats.

Will 2021 be the year of Renewable Energy?

We love this article from Green Queen that reviews and cultivates the hope many of us have regarding solar and renewable energy.

“New data published by online science platform Our World in Data in partnership with Oxford University has shown that renewable energy sources are now rapidly decreasing in cost. Solar energy, in particular, has plummeted from US$359 per megawatt-hour to just US$40 between 2009 and 2019 alone – making it by far the cheapest of all clean energy sources. “

Of course, there are still tons of challenges to face on the political, technological, international coordination sides, but we like to start the year on this positive and hopeful note.

Even for us in Hong Kong, even if the effects are still very limited, solar installations have been increasing dramatically since the announcement of the Feed-In tariff scheme by CLP in late 2019.

💫 Happy New Year!

💪 2020 was a very challenging year for the whole event industry and we look forward to brighter days.

🔗 More than ever, our focus for the coming year will be on creating synergies with the other actors of the industry as well as with all other eco-enthusiastic people to collaborate and bring the community together.

⏳ The past year has taught us all to be more patient, and it seems like we will need to wait longer before events can properly resume. We will be ready and are welcoming anyone interested in discussing new collaborative projects.

📹 This is a short video of one of the first gatherings we have hosted in Hong Kong 2 years ago, and one to look forward to fo whenever the situation will allow it.

🎧 Here comes Solar Selekta 010 by Romain Fx!

This is a selection of some of his favorite emerging Labels and Artists all around Asia.

Romain has been supporting our project ever since we first told him about it more than 2 years ago! And that means a LOT to us.

We will also always remember how much power Romain shared on our bikes at Sonar HK 2018 (our very first event in Hong Kong - see the proof in the comments below)

Romain recently moved to Europe and we wish him all the best in achieving his goals and provide us all with pleasure for our ears.

THE VIRTUAL CONSCIOUS FESTIVAL

This month, we give our full support to Green Is The New Black who is launching its first The Virtual Conscious Festival by Green Is The New Black from Friday 12th June - Sunday 14th June!

Like last year, we originally planned to bring some great solar vibes at their (physical) 2020 edition in Hong Kong. Congrats to them for adapting themselves to the situation so quickly and bringing their festival experience online. We sure will stay in from of our screen and not miss a piece of it!

The festival is a three-day online event that will help guide individuals towards embracing a more sustainable lifestyle.
