You probably know some of the reasons why neon making is dying in Hong Kong - check out what our Creative Director Karen Chankalun has experienced in her latest TEDxTinHauWomen talk, and how would she like to change the ecosystem and the form of the neon industry, in Hong Kong 🤓

Hong Kong's iconic neon signs are disappearing. Chankalun introduces us to the wonder of this dying art form and explains why preserving this visual language with a new generation of artists is preserving Hong Kong heritage.

🏆 Very proud that our project has been awarded the Gold Award at the Japanese . As the ONLY Hong Kong design studio awarded in this award, we can’t express enough our joy on the international recognition (including Manuel Rabaté, the Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi) of our local crafts and art project that has planned maliciously for a year with 3 different stages.

📌 The core of our programme is to modernise our local traditional crafts, not only automating them, but to keep some of their stories and essence, and illustrates them through contemporary art.

🀄️🦜 In our Artist in Residence programme in 2019, mahjong tile carver, Cheung Shun-king, and the last birdcage maker in Hong Kong, Chan Lok-Choi, partnered up with local artist Amanda Tong, GoHung, and international artist Frederic Bussiere and Jun Matsumura.

👨‍👧‍👦Together, they explored, reshaped and created two sets of site-specific artworks that cater towards the modern behaviour of our society – ones that will offer the younger generation new insights into our traditional crafts. These resulting artworks were exhibited on a public moving tram #61 exhibition from April to June 2020.

🏆 We are very honoured to be the ONLY Hong Kong studio receiving the Gold and Bronze awards of the Japanese 🤓 Getting international recognition (including Manuel Rabaté, the director of Louvre Abu Dhabi) to our local projects mean a lot to us 🥰

🤍 These 2 projects are also our favourites where we reinvented local culture and heritage, and concept of sustainability and upcycling art 🌱

👊 We wish to bring more similar projects that align with our value to preserve local crafts, culture and heritage in a modern way; and also striking sustainability-conscious art installations to the general public. STAY TUNED!
