//新舊相融:新加坡的文物保育與城市發展//

//Heritage Conservation in Singapore//
Singapore has come a long way since 30 years ago on its conservation journey with nearly 7,200 heritage buildings coming under protection as conserved buildings. Over the years, Singapore’s conservation and revitalisation methods have evolved to keep up with the fast-paced Lion City and its ever-shifting lifestyles. In planning for key historic areas, formulating guidelines, granting approvals for restoration and renovation works of conserved buildings, conducting conservation and heritage studies and more, we see inspiring innovation in Singapore’s heritage conservation approaches.
New World Group, UNESCO Bangkok and Culture for Tomorrow will co-present the Heritage Innovation Symposium 2023. With much honour have we invited Ms Tan Huey Jiun, Director (Conservation Planning) of Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Singapore, to join the conversation. Ms Tan will illustrate through case studies how Singapore strikes a balance between development and conservation, the opportunities in public-private partnerships, and how heritage buildings can remain relevant and provide value for the wider community in the long term. Ms Tan has over 20 years of experience in the URA, and has been involved in multiple Singaporean heritage architecture, urban design and conservation projects, extending their unique stories and significance for local communities.
