[FutureTense Exhibition 3rd Edition]
𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲!

[FutureTense Exhibition 3rd Edition] 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐭 - 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Simple Noodle Art & Shanboy CHEN (Taiwan)

“Dupe arts” reflects China's “Dupe Culture”—a social media-driven trend embracing affordable alternatives to luxury goods, promoting rational consumption. Dupes are not fakes but relatively legitimate substitutes that paradoxically boost desire for originals. Similarly, “Dupe arts” does not copy artworks mechanically but captures their essence accessibly, critiquing yet aspiring to high art.

AI image-generators follow parallel logic, creating low-cost derivatives through recombination. While some value accessibility over originality, creators face dilemmas: as AI becomes the ultimate “dupe tool,” must we redefine artistic agency? This cultural shift demands new frameworks for creativity in the imitation age.

「Dupe arts（平替藝術）」呼應中國「平替文化」現象——這種社交媒體催生的消費趨勢，追求奢侈品的實惠替代品，提倡理性消費。平替非假貨，而是相對合法的替代品，甚至反向刺激對原版的渴望。同理，「Dupe arts」並非機械複製藝術品而是對現成物模仿，以親民形式再現藝術精髓，反映民眾對高端藝術既批判又嚮往的弔詭心理。

AI繪圖亦遵循此邏輯，透過圖像重組生產低成本衍生作品。當大眾滿足於可及性而非原創性時，創作者面臨困境：若AI成為終極「平替工具」，我們是否需重新定義藝術自主權？這股文化浪潮正要求為這個「模仿時代」建立新的創作倫理框架。

[FutureTense Exhibition 3rd Edition] 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫

Natura 2040 avoids utopian or dystopian binaries, instead presenting visual narratives that blur these boundaries. By interrogating the very definition of nature when built on artificial foundations, the film probes the rationale behind radical ecological engineering.

Is nature preserved on synthetic land still authentic? How do human infrastructures coexist with the ecosystems they “support”? Are the consequences of such interventions predictable? These inquiries challenge viewers to reconsider humanity's role in shaping ecosystems and the futures we're constructing, where the line between preservation and fabrication dissolves.

《Natura 2040》並非旨在呈現農業未來之烏托邦或反烏托邦式願景，而是透過一系列視覺敘事，探討這兩種對立元素的交融。影片藉由質疑「當自然被置於人造基礎上時，其本質與定義究竟為何」，引導觀眾思考此類雄心勃勃的生態實驗背後之動機與隱含意義。

在人工建造的土地上保存自然意味著什麼？究竟這仍然屬於自然，抑或僅是人造幻象？我們該如何調和人造基礎建設與其試圖維繫的自然生態系統之間的關係？此類激進介入手段可能產生的後果是否可預見？這些探問使人反思人為干預的影響及其可能塑造的未來——在此過程中，保存與人造之間的界線正逐漸消融。

In Jenn Leung and Daniel Felstead's Always on My Mind, digital avatar of Nicki Minaj examines the ethical dilemmas of "digital telepathy" devaluing language. When Neuralink implanted a brain chip in quadriplegic Noland Arbaugh in 2024, Elon Musk proclaimed verbal language obsolete—to be replaced by "consensual telepathy" within a decade. This assumes brains function independently from bodies, reducing philosophy's mind-body problem to tech hype.

The work features AI-rendered avatars: Minaj (scraped from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II) and Musk as Dune's Baron. Using Unreal Engine with AI voice cloning and blendshape animation, it juxtaposes deepfakes against generative AI materials, critiquing tech's linguistic disruption.

Jenn Leung 與 Daniel Felstead 的作品《Always on My Mind》中，Nicki Minaj 的數碼化身探討「數碼心靈感應」貶抑語言價值的倫理爭議。當 Neuralink 於2024年為四肢癱瘓者 Noland Arbaugh 植入腦芯片後，Elon Musk 宣稱口語將在十年內被「共識心靈傳輸」淘汰——此技術假設大腦可脫離身體運作，將哲學的身心問題簡化為科技噱頭。

"Peace of mind" is the process of reconciliation with the environment. There may be profound peace hidden in our ordinary life, which is not a mysterious call from afar, but a small message that we are familiar with but often ignore. Through the solar panel detection device in Listen to the Light - routine, the audience can hear the signals that are silently hidden in the light. There are recordings in the early morning, urban noises and digitally synthesized sounds, from tangible to intangible, from reality to fiction, like a dialogue between daily life and imagination.

所謂「心安」，其實是與環境和解的過程。我們平凡生活中或許藏著深刻的平靜，它不是遠方傳來的神秘呼喚，而是我們熟悉卻常忽略的微小訊息。透過作品的太陽能板偵測裝置，觀眾可以聽見那些隱藏在光線中的無聲信號。當中有清晨的錄音、城市噪音和數碼合成聲響，從有形到無形，從現實到虛構，猶如日常生活與想像力的對話。

Dự án tiếng Việt (Our Vietnamese Project) explores Vietnamese as a living language. It starts with an anti-QWERTY keyboard challenging dictionary limits, revealing nonsensical syllables through monosyllabic experiments. This birthed Xác Âm, translating syllables into sensory weights. Each sound evokes feelings, leaving traces in listeners. Next, Bên kia của vần uses a game to probe the community’s linguistic subconscious: stripping meaning, what remains? Lost cross-lingual links remerge. Finally, để quá khứ sẽ (tiếp diễn) hijacks algorithms to loop official promises to trees sacrificed for Saigon’s Metro—a poetic resistance showing Vietnamese thriving, resisting, and breathing.

作品是一場對越南語生命力的集體探索。計劃由「反 QWERTY 鍵盤」實驗開始，解構越南語單音節特性，衍生出「Xác Âm」聲音裝置——將音節轉化為感官重量。後續實驗「Bên kia của vần」通過文字遊戲探索語言潛意識：如果文字剔除意義後，還剩什麼？最終章「để quá khứ sẽ」演變成集體悼詞，用算法循環播放政府對胡志明市地鐵二號線工程中被砍伐樹木的空洞承諾，詩意地展現越南語如何在現代社會中持續呼吸與抗爭。

Set on a flight during the COVID-19 pandemic, the player controls a drone through the in-flight entertainment screen to retrieve a disposable mask left on a pristine island. A dark comedy that reflects on the human-centered measures we take in an era of heavy air travel, climate anxiety, and AI.

作品以新冠疫情期間的航班為背景，玩家透過機上娛樂屏幕操控無人機，前往原始島嶼拾回遺留的即棄口罩。這作品用黑色幽默手法，帶領觀者反思在航空旅行氾濫、氣候問題與人工智能時代下以人類為中心的措施。
