So I haven't been working on mosaics recently but have focused on some embroidery. These are some of the ones that I have completed recently!

Hi! It's been a long time since my last post! Recently, I've found a new interest - leather crafting!

Here's my first finished leather product - a sunglass holder!

And I also tried letter pressing. Although the letters and sentences were wobbly and not that even, but it was still quite fun and not too bad for a first attempt at it!

I'm working on a leather handbag right now! Will update soon!

So this is the first time I used mosaic tiles to create a picture and it totally failed!! I think it looked okay at the beginning but as soon as I put the grout (灌漿) which I usually use for mosaic, it totally destroyed the flower! 😭😭I tried to fill some beads in the middle because there was too much grout between the tiles but the effect was not good. It was actually yellow before because it's supposed to be an edelweiss flower, but Brian said it looked like bird poo in the middle so I changed it to blue.

The only thing that I liked about this piece were the Zentangles. It was really fun and relaxing to draw the Zentangles though it took forever!!! As I majorly stuffed up the flower, I wanted to add something in to kinda fix it up a bit...

Well I guess in my next piece, I'll skip the grout!

Brian said, "No one will go to this market, it's so far away from everything!" But considering the cheap price ($600/2 days) to open stall there, I still gave it a go and I didn't regret it! I was surprised by the amount of people who actually came to this market!

At the end, I sold 7 gift sets, 1 jar, 8 pots, 4 coasters and my round dangling candle holder. Although I didn't manage to sell everything, but I'm pretty pleased with the results and the profit!

At the end of the day, profit wasn't what made me most happy about this experience. Because of this market, my students from school came to support me and I was so surprised to see them! So joyful to see my colleagues bring their kids to the market too! Also, the praise from strangers that they really liked my mosaics was also very fulfilling.

But the most important thing to me about this market experience was that I really learned to understand how tough it is to make handcrafts and sell them and appreciate other handcraft sellers too.. I used to think like, who wants to pay $80 for a pair of handmade earrings or bracelet when I could just buy it for $5 on Taobao but after selling my own products, the time, the effort it takes, I learned to appreciate others efforts and the pricing of their handmade goods.

So what's next? Maybe have a rest and make some more for the next market!

Hi guys! I'm going to be exhibiting my mosaics at this weekend market for two days! I will also be doing some demonstrations too! If you guys have time, please feel free to drop by! Here's the info:
