Our mission is to promote a broader and engaging dialogue across countries and cultures. Antigua Guatemala, our home, lies at the center of our programs.

At our small, local scale, we aim to make GRACIA sustainable - a community driven, socially engaged and environmental conscious project. We encourage cross –cultural education, inspiration and personal exchange within each discipline and program in hopes of developing a broader and more engaging creative dialogue across countries, cultures and fields of research.

Meet Lila Stone, the person teaching Exploring Craft History this August.

Here's how it works.

✺ Live sessions on Zoom
We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect, so each session feels both focused and fluid.

✺ Ongoing conversation on Substack
Between sessions, our Substack space holds the assignments, prompts, and discussion that carry the material through the week.

✺ A final project
In the last week, you'll apply what we've covered to a small project of your own. You'll share it in our group space, and everyone is welcome to respond to each other's.

✺ Recordings
Can't join live? Sessions are recorded and available for 30 days after the first one.

Exploring craft history: wonder in the persistence of the handmade object.

A three week virtual course led by art historian Lila Stone, looking closely at the handmade object, its history, value, and quiet persistence in a world that mostly looks past it.

GRACIA is an guatemalan owned and artist-run house of creation in Antigua Guatemala. Residents work independently on their own project or research, with the time and space to go slowly. We host one to three artists at a time.

The residency includes a private studio, a room at La Casita, and support from our team throughout your stay. You design your days as you wish.

We welcome artists, writers, and makers across all disciplines.
